  1. It is an easy thing to do Theo, cut the wire to the headlight and reroute it
    to a separate switch

    It's a bit more of a worry when it's a bike though...

'restart after crashing' isn't quite the same :)

    I agree with you Theo.

It was easy for my old BMW, 1997 model, because the European versions
still had light switches, so I just bought a Euro switch.

Unfortunately, since then.... perhaps 2004 or 05, the Europeans decided
to go to always on headlights. :-(

Because of this, most manufacturers don't produce on/off switches on
their bikes regardless of where they are sold.

I think that an on/off switch is actually legal in Britain, but they
just can't get them as standard, because of the euro business.

The wiring is a piece of cake. The real problem is finding a decent
waterproof switch and somewhere to mount it so that it doesn't look like
    something off a 1957 BSA.

    Hi Nev.

Looks just like the one I have sitting in the garage for the Triumph.

*NEW* motorcycles in Australia had to have their lights-on during the
90s but that was later repealed.
Some manufacturers are too lazy or low-volume to make different models
though so they just make a one-size-fits-all lights-on model for the
    whole world, hence Crazy-Cam has California's no-light-switch.

My '91 Suzuki, '94 and '98 Trumps and '97 BMW all were headlights-on but my
2002 Trump has a headlights switch.
(Actually my '98 Trump and '97 BMW had headlight switches too but that's not
how they came from the shop)

Mind you; that's a design requirement. I doubt it was ever law that the
hard-wired headlight had to be illuminated during daylight hours.

ie. You couldn't modify it but I doubt you could get pinged for a blown bulb
    during the day.

What's the sliding switch for Nev?
That looks a similar switchblock to the Sprint ST or the TT600 Trump but on
them the sliding switch is off-park-on.

By the way; do you have park lights? I didn't on my '98 Sprint and there
was no provision to refit them into the existing headlights so I drilled a
little hole for a wire and bought a stick-on, 12v, 3-led strip and stuck it
to the reflector inside the headlight-shell (I actually bought two but lost
the other one before I got around to installing it!)
It's quite bright (and low power) so it's an excellent parking light.

  15. My Trump has parking lights, you just turn the key fully to the left, one
    past the "off" position

That looks very good. Unfortunately the Noggie bars have no 'bar' space on
them. There's a bar casting attached to the steering head with short bars
inserted in the ends. No space to put anything on the bars.

So get a rocker switch and put it on the black flat fairing infill
    next to the tank.

I've seen a pic of that done for driving lights, looks very good.

That was what I said in a previous post. I'll have to go troll for a
waterproof switch. I've had to replace both low beams so far and people tell
me it's difficult to tell in the daylight whether my tail light or stop
light is on. That comment, from two people, made me a little uneasy.
