It looks very mint indeed. The headlight sticker suggests the reserve
will be rather stupid. Nowt much needs to be repeated about DK.

I think the Colorado number plate is a big give=away there.

Indeed. I also found it interesting that there's absolutely *zero*
description of the bike in that ad. They don't even mention if it's a
    runner or not.

We never got that model, which was just a bored-out 550. We got the F
first (4-1 exhaust, restyled, etc) and then the F2 (similar to F) and K
(restyled four-piper, and the best of the lot).

I've owned all three models - I like the 550 as a bike to ride, and it's
actually (in cold hard stats ad facxts) a better bike than the 400, but
the 400 is still a better one to own IYSWIM.

If you found a tatty but complete CB550 and wanted to restore it to the
standard of what looks like an original unmolested California bike,
then have you any idea how much this would be likely to cost?
...................Its interesting that this is suposedly a "classic"
bike forum, but few if any of the posters are able to carry out
anything more than changing spark plugs!

  11. Hmm, study that number-plate again, then scan a list of US states.
    You're nealy half-a-continent out.

Does it make the slightest difference where the bike came from? Seems
that posters here are only too eager to nit-pick, but have little idea
of whats involved regards restoring a bike to a high standard!

Yes it does, especially US-state wise but you're probably to far up
your own arse to work out why.

Ken () gurgled happily, sounding much like
    they were saying :
Since when did the cost of restoration of a shed have _any_ reflection on
the value of a good original? Car, bike, whatever - it just doesn't work
    like that.

Don't feed the troll, we've seen enough of Ken's stupidity to last a
    while now.

Surely no-one can be that crass all the time?

Mind you, it takes serious effort and a lot of talent to make such
stupid points and questions appear innocently untroll-like. The
persistence of this Usenet Liliputian is the give-away - no-one who is a
genuine know-nothing, not even a thick **** could resist the temptation
to stop digging and slink off to pastures fresh, changing his identity
    as he goes.

He's lived in my killfile for a long time now. He's a troll, and rather
a good one, I grudgingly admit.

  17. He surfaced a few years ago and was made to look a complete arse. It was
    rather funny.

He suffers from some serious behavioural problems, a massive ego, and a
depth of ignorance that defies belief. Now he trolls, yes, in the sense
that he just whines and snipes all the time.
