Waaaaay back in the 1970s I met an old radio engineer who was working on the
same project as me and a friend pointed out that Jack Nissenthall was a war
hero. A few questions later I found that James Leasor had written a book
    about him called "Green Beach"

Fast forward 30mumble years and the book surfaced during my current house
    move.

Probably out of print by now but
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/ww2peopleswar/stories/44/a2665244.shtml tells part of
    the incredible tale.

I read this story many years ago and had completely forgotten about
it, I think it was "Green Beach", The reminder of this story has in
turn brought back some other very dear memories. I cant really
explain, but suffice to say Im sitting here a little misty-eyed
enjoying some wonderful memories that I thought Id lost.
    Thank you.

Bloody hell. I tell you, they were a different breed, that generation.
    Amazing.

Really? I thought they were ordinary people doing extraordinary things
    in extraordinary circumstances.

Or is this merely a reverse-extrapolation of the theory that the next
generation is all shit and that?
