  2. You're zeroing in on it, but slowly. Roughly E1.5/quid, thus E = 13 bob.

  4. Aye, when the French give the EU a mighty kick in the nuts on Sunday, and
the Cloggies do it again on Wednesday [because the French vote means they
won't be the only folk bringing down the house of cards by saying No], the
Euro will be in danger of going into free-fall for a spell. With the
Germans going for an election a year early as well, it's not looking good
    for the pseudo-currency. Shame!

No reason why it should go into meltdown over a no vote. As I
understand it a no vote means nothing changes and whilst it may not be
the best governmental and bureaucratic system in the world it rolls
    along.

Not if you are sitting this side of La Manche.

  7. Wossa matter? You suddenly become Septic or something? My "shame" was
    entirely insincere!

I think you've over exagerated a tad. It may be a set back for the EU,
    but a small setback, IMO.

I'm beginning to get the impression that all this wailing about "the
end of the EU" is mainly because it'll be used as a convenient excuse
by a lot of politicos for completely unrelated matters.

I think pretty much the same.

TBH, in France, this referendum is becoming a bit of a farce. IMO, most
French people are pro-European and would vote "Yes". However, it's a
typically French trait to use votes (in these kind of situations) to
show displeasure with the ruling government and therefore makes a
    mockery of the whole thing.

I think it may be a similar story in the Netherlands. Where's that
cloggy bugger when you need a Dutch opinion?

  11. I don't want the Euro to fail. I'm pro-Europe, in the sense of customs
union, open borders, free movement of labour and so on. The EU, as it has
become and as 'they' want to develop it further, is an obese, flatulent,
corrupt, gravy-train, jobs-for-the-boys, intrusive and unnecessary
bureaucratic excrescence. The CAP's a nightmare. The EU accounts are fucked
by billions, but the whistle-blower was kicked out by that spineless,
grinning shit Kinnock. The MEPs and civil servants are cynical and
self-righteous thieves. The Euro was banged together in a ridiculous hurry,
as a sop to Helmut Kohl's vanity since he wanted to be level with Jean
Monnet as a 'creator of the modern Europe'. Last year's expansion was
absurd, and the determination to drag in a pair of basket-cases like Romania
and Bulgaria in a couple of years is just one more insult.

The whole thing needs a bucket of metaphorical cold water thrown over it, in
the vain hope that the scumbags wake up to the popular disgust. To that
extent, I want to see a No vote.

  12. Agreed, but currencies get damaged in a climate of political uncertainty.
It's something that the politicians can't control, or fake.

It is unlikely that it will get to a vote[1] here but exactly the same

[1] Thankyou the fucking twats in Brussels for setting it up in such a
way that frogs and cloggies will be denying me my right to at least have
    my fucking say.

True, but not for the same reasons, IMO.

Well yes, it has to be said that British Pro Euro sentiments aren't a
naturally high yielding crop so it is a bit more difficult to target
local politicians as the cause of all the ills from Brussels but we are
a flexible and hateful electorate and we can be as a arsehole minded as
the French when we put our minds to it.

    Innit.

Although to be fair to the mainlanders the way that Blur and his Merry
Men have respectfully arranged for us proles to be informed means that
we know very little about what is actually going on and why so our vote
would be as irrelevant as it gets.

    (oops, didn't see this bit)

By the same token, most of le french publique are in the same boat.
Myself and SWMBO received the voting forms and a copy of the
constitution. It's a fcking nightmare to read. Even for the French. So
I don't think that the French are in any way, more aware than the
    British.

Fucking lucky you. The plot for our situation was lifted lock stock and

You have had the opportunity to become aware given to you on a plate, if
you are not it is *entirely* your own fault. We have a slightly
different and somewhat more, "what you don't know won't hurt you
