This is pretty much me - when it boils down to it the bike _is_ a toy - and
the cash could be better used elsewhere. However I don't desperately need it
, so currently the bike is still in the garage :)

Interest rates are up - no matter what the Daily Mail may say, I know it's
hit my available cash. It really wouldn't surprise me to see the amount of
credit card debt continuing to rise as people just stick their bills on
that - delaying the inevitable really.

Yep, Ive used them for a few bits and was planning to go to them on pay day
to try and probably buy a new helmet :-(

Speaking of twonks, do any of the Bristol lot remember Dave Priddle, who
managed the HG shop for a while, and latterly did something in Arriva
    Kawasaki?

That's a completely different thing: it's like houses, when it makes more
    sense to extend than move.

Anybody buying a house now needs his bumps felt.

    Of course.

You'll be telling me next that you've never drawn cash on your
Barclaycard to pay your Access card bill.

    For months on end.

  11. never - not even when I had big credit card debts that never really
reduced month on month. It would never cross my mind to draw cash from
a credit card account - and certainly not to pay another credit card
    bill.

That really is lunacy - IMO of course.

Would you care to elaborate on this?

I'm due to go back to the UK in April, most likely to Bath/Bristol it would
seem, so buying a house in the near future is likely.

I'm pretty much out of touch with UK economic goings on, but is it your
opinion that the housing bubble is about to burst? I seem to recall that was
the general consensus when I left the UK in 2002, is there anything to
suggest that it's more likely this time around?

Nope, I've never used a credit card when I don't have the money to pay
it off and I don't think I would.

I lived off beans and toast (sometimes without the beans) for 2 or 3
months when I couldn't afford anything else. I knew the money situation
would sort itself out as I was getting paid, I also could have put
spending on the card, I just didn't feel comfortable running up debts
that would become a hassle to pay off.

I was a lot more healthy in those days.

I added the word 'seriously', I meant it. 5 foot 10ish tall, stocky,
Bristolian accent, has a penchant for BMW cars and R1s. Was the original
manager of HG Bristol and had Julian working with him at that time.

    Same bloke

Oh, I know you meant it. I only said "YAFJ" as an axpression of
    gobsmackedness.
Left HG to sell insurance or something, failed to thrive, found a job as
some sort of assistant service manager for Arriva, who then folded?

Kin 'ell. Wait till I tell Steve, who worked with him in HG and has been
running the Bristol HG shop ever since...
