in the back of the moving truck I hired yesterday..

Saved by a cardboard box with computer shit in it, an ADSL modem and disk
box took the fall, disk box is in a thousand pieces but the ADSL modem will
    live to see another day

bike was on its centre stand, wedged forward and tied down in 4
places...still wasn't good enough, small scuffs to the fairing, should buff
    out

the old z200 I had in the back, which we put little effort in securing,
    didn't move a inch

If I ever catch that Murphy...he is a dead man

Like it's gonna hurt it. The viffer was doing burn outs in the parking lot
    after getting back up.

I'm sure the neighbours were impressed. :p

Dont put on centre stand, let the suspension work with the tiedowns to soak up bumps. Bit hard if on the centrestand.

    So:-

    1) chock front wheel or shove into a corner

    2) tiedown front (compress suspension)

    3) tie rear and or chock wheel so doesnt drift side to side.

erk... what made you think that using the centre stand was a good way to
distribute the weight of the bike ?

Is now a good time for me to tell the story about seeing the fully loaded
Beemer used by the chief instructor at the VicPol motorcycle training centre
get blown over by a gust of wind when it was parked on it's centrestand?

Sure, if you want to explain how that relates to distributing the weight
    of the bike.

Stand next to a bike parked on it's sidestand, but on the other side of the
bike (lets pretend postie bikes don't exist), and see how hard you need to
push the bike before it will fall over. Now go do the same to your beemer (be
sure there are no Saab's in the vicinity).
