Exactly. And the shops are shut for what? 2 days?[/QUOTE]

    *ding*

I did my usual shop, but on Wednesday lunchtime, adding in a few bottles
of wine, a case of beer and the like.

    Bollocks to Christmas shopping.

  7. Someone was racing a Gamma with a TZ350 mill in it in Oz ca. '85
and doing quite well in the National championship, IIRC.

  8. Bargain! We had goose, a couple of times, a few years ago. Glorious, but
this year, damned expensive (like over £50).

  9. We saved the fat from ours. It makes fabulous roast potatoes.

Trouble with a goose is that, like a duck, there's not much meat on it.
Something the size of an A380 feeds half a dozen.

  12. Hmmm. perhaps we should make more effort to get the honkers to breed.

I gather Swan is something rather special, but it's a bit tricky to get hold
of legally, in the UK. wild ones belong to 'er maj., or something. Or
maybe that's only the ones on the Thames.

Christmas is coming and the goose is getting fat...
Sarah got a jar of goose fat from Tesco recently.
Couple of pheasants; parsnips, carrots and fennel in olive oil; potatoes in
goose fat. Goose fat is also good for the skin, as it doesn't contain
    lanolin.
