And another bike enters the garage

Crikey. That goes beyond sledgehammer and well into piledriver territory
as far as cracking a nut is concerned.

It's not as much getting it in as getting it out again.

And I'm also conscious that it might not *just* be dirt bikes in the
    back.

Easy. Use the dead deer in the back for a soft landing, and fashion it
into a ramp to jump back out.

    Any more questions?

Heh. I've thought about doing something similar with some angle iron,
cheapo B&Q castors & a portable electric winch I've got kicking around.

I didn't think about it for long.

Those Harleys probably weigh north of 300kgs - I wouldn't like to try
and push one up a scaffolding plank. Plainly a better answer would be to
reverse the van at it as fast as possible.

The best answer, of course, would either be to not go near the Harley
dealer in the first place, or just ride the fucking thing instead of
trying to put it in the back of a van.

What happens when I've butchered the dead deer?

There hasn't been any roadkill worth picking up in *ages*...

You should have another one by then. Failing that, use a dead
    hitchhiker.

You're not trying. The trick is your brother drives down the road and
rams a deer, you drive along behind him and pick it up, and by the time
you get the corpse home your daughter should be just about ready to
    dismember the next one.

There nearly was on Saturday afternoon. Just down the hill from your place.
A camera van was near the top of the hill pointing down and a couple of
cyclists were following a Renault or Citroen down the hill at some speed
when it saw the camera van. Anchors *ON*! Cyclists came nearly to my side of
the road to try and get round the nearly out of control car. Certainly "shit
in the (cycling) shorts" time, and very nearly roadkill but sadly not of the
    edible kind.

You don't get this country thing, do you? My brother and daughter are
    the same person.

Quite, a horse box would be a shonky old lorry full of rust and just
waiting to break down whereas a 20 year old hilux is...
