I'm surprised - it actually seemed quite reasonable. The bit about prosecution being the preferred option for exceeding the speed limit being the only disappointment - but then that's all about getting easy money, innit. -- Joe XV1900 Stratoliner (with added sparkle) http://www.pikeyjoe.kinghell.com/MyStrat.jpg PikeyJoe kinghell.com
No, come on, it doesn't say preferred, it says: "* Exceeding speed limits, prosecution in compliance with existing detailed ACPO guidelines and individual force policies * Breaches of section 36 of the Road Traffic Act 1988, failure to comply with road signs consider pre-court interventions. These offences should not normally be isolated incidents, but should be accompanied by aggravating factors for example excessive speed or prolonged misuse of double white line markings. In cases where there is a victim and/or the offences have a higher degree of 'mens rea' prosecution should be the preferred option. Which means, more or less, same as now as I understand it. And you also get less trouble for small plates and tinted visors, which is a Good Thing. -- Marina Mayes - Reading, UK. To email me remove XX from my address SR250 - gone. "A high visible presence and instant intervention is more effective than covert monitoring or remote camera detection and justice by post." Halle-fucking-lujah.
You're right, it doesn't say preferred. But unlike almost all the other bullet points, it doesn't suggest an alternative either. My interpretation was that it was the 'preferred' option - but that may be my bad English and misuse of the word. This, as I read it, relates to section 36 (whatever the Hell that is), and not exceeding speed limits. Separate bullet point, see? I agree wholeheartedly. -- Joe XV1900 Stratoliner (with added sparkle) http://www.pikeyjoe.kinghell.com/MyStrat.jpg PikeyJoe kinghell.com
Heh.. I missed that bit. Abso-fucking-lutely. I'll believe when I see it though. -- Joe XV1900 Stratoliner (with added sparkle) http://www.pikeyjoe.kinghell.com/MyStrat.jpg PikeyJoe kinghell.com
