So how long does someone have be be around before they're NOT a newbie? I don't actually believe anyone could have a "hard time" on the end of a keyboard. -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19
If this rule is universally applied there is only ever one non-newbie. Can we find out who it is and tell them to get a life?

That dear old chap, darsy tugged on his pipefull of old shag and said: It's not any of them I don't think - I think you were around before any of them. I certainly was.
Looking at Google Groups, the first posts were Jan 1996 and the earliest posters whose names I recognise are Mike Fleming, Chris DC and Ged.

Ecksherley, I didn't start posting here from the first, for a number of reasons. I don't think my Government freebie 6-monthly trips had started then, so I didn't know many people in the UK personally -- I knew many more in the SF Bay Area, for example. Also there was a problem in that PSI where I was at the time didn't add ukrm to its list of groups so IIRC I had to read the group from the open (for reading) server at Uni Stuttgart, then post any replies through PSI, crossposting to alt.fan.ivan so that the newshost accepted the post and it could propagate down the ukrm chain when it hit a server that carried both groups. I do remember when ogden was a newbie though... -- Ivan Reid, School of Engineering & Design, _____________ CMS Collaboration, Brunel University. I was posting around then, but used x-no-archive, which google used to honour. Digging through records, I seem to have started on here about 1996 or so, when I first found out I was transferring to Europe (France at the time...) *shit*! That's over 10 years ago!
So this group has only been around for 11 years? The way people talk, I'd begun to think it was here before Adam. -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19
Gosh, insults about masturbation. How inventive. So, you've got two houses and retired at 38. Whoopee. Are people meant to be impressed? I prompted the exchange because you posted like a fuckwit. Sorry old bean, it's not my role to entertain you.

A file of my thoughts about holidaying with "Germans on Tour" as against Brits on Tour" last December will follow when I've unpacked. I was there in the early days of UKRM posting to IXION as well, in fact Trevor, Elvis, Gaye and a few others have been to one or more of my summer parties. Thinks? plus Ivan, Windy and about 10 to 20 others over the years.
