Huge difference Dave, neither of those are racial slurs, anymore than
"Yank" is and are/were used to denote geographical origins, not racial,
or for that matter, sexual orientation. My point remains, most folks
who are convinced they're are more evolved and look down their noses at
other's point of view, tend NOT to stop there and Mark is a prime
example of that narrow and extremely lame way of thinking...

Not to belabor a point that to most is obvious, do you believe what he
writes would pass the face test, that is, would he say the things he
writes to someone's face? As much as I doubt that would ever happen, I
sure as hell hope I'm around to see it if it ever does, as there's not
many things more satisfying than seeing an elitist asshole receive an
instant (and usually very painful) attitude adjustment...

Don't be daft. Look at the spelling etc - it was obviously done for
comic effect. And to make a point. And no-one's ethnicity was being
    "slurred".

"Wit" being an important part of the equation. Just something to keep
    in mind.
Guess you lose your house, Mark.

You have never been more wrong in your life Neal, anytime words like
that are used someone is slighted, there is no excuse for it, or an
application that doesn't slur and if you don't believe he wouldn't have
been knocked on his ass for it you definitely do need some
introspection! I don't recall how it is over there, but here use of
such terms will, at the very least, get your ass kicked, at worst, an
express trip to the ER. That's why I said a lot of what he writes
wouldn't pass a face test and why I believe people that do such things
in e-forums are cowards. I'm not attempting to educate you on racial
matters and you can believe and behave as you wish, but I would
strongly advise against using terms like those (around these parts) if
you have any aspirations of a long life...

As I said to Champ, I'm not about to tell you, or anyone how to deal
with such crap, you do as you see fit. All I'm saying is I'm not going
to continue giving stage to folks that use racial slurs to make a
point, *no matter how they used it, it's wrong* and in my book allowing
shit like that to go unchallenged makes you a part of it...

  7. Nip is certainly a racial slur. Don't generally care for Mark N. or
his positions much at all, but as others have said, it was patently
obvious that he was being sarcastic.

First of all, the word some rapper's and comedian's like Chris Rock use
is gga', not gger, that you don't understand they have very different
meanings not only demonstrates how little you actually know of our
history, but interact with Black America too. I tried for at least a
couple years to get you to tone down your disparraging remarks to no
avail and now I'm done and trust me on this, it's not just because we
disagree on racing. It's because I can't, or don't respect folks that
have no respect for others. It's like this Mark, I've been immersed
with many different ethnic groups all my life and I pretty much know
what's kosher and what isn't, obviously you do not and while that
doesn't directly effect me, it does effect *any and every* point you
may try to make. Sorry, that's just how it goes for me and whether
anyone else here agrees, or not and feels compelled to continue
"discussion" with you doesn't matter, but that's just how I know it has
to be. The really sad part of this deal is you don't need to use that
kind of trash to make a point, though that you continually do is the
hook and why I'm saying buh-bye..
All that shows is that I know what'll get your jaw broke and you don't.
Btw, if you don't think it won't, puhleeese let me be there when you
get in a brotha's *face* with that language. Pleeeeassse...

Do you know what Nip is short for? Hint, it's short for Nipponese,
sorta the exact same thing as Jap is for Japanese and while it's for
sure slang, it is not racial in any way and no different from a USAin
being called a Yank, or "Merkan..
The point you may be overlooking was that he was attempting to slur
both Southerners and Black Americans and to me that only doubled the
    lameness...

Are you trying to tell me whether I was offended or not?

  11. I know a few folks of Asian ancestry who would take offense at being
called Nip or Jap or Gook or Slant-eye regardless of whether you
think those are racially based or raciall yoffensive; and those same
people are sharp enough to recognize when those terms are used in a
fictional third-party conversational exchange meant to sarcastically
make a point, rather than being used as a demeaning epithet.

No, really, I've definitely been much wrong-er on other occasions.
    That's rubbish, imo.
    It's pretty different over here.

If I was out in the street, in a black part of town, and used the
n-word, I could expect some trouble. If I was in a pub with some
white mates, put on a comedy deep south accent, and uttered a phrase
like Mark used, I get nothing more than a laugh.

    Have some perspective, FFS.

No, I'm speculating on whether or not you're a liar. At least on this
subject. Only you know if you were offended, and only you know if you
    lied about that.

Again, anytime *anyone* uses a direct racial epithet to make a point,
whether in jest, or however, it's not only revealing, it substantially
takes away from any point they may have been attempting to establish,
at least for me. Now, you may truly believe I slighted the Japanese,
but in reality using Nip, or Jap is absolutely no different from, say,
Julian, or Neal using Yank, or 'Merkan, (not to mention my all time
fav, septic;-) however, I agree, the G**** and S**** terms are most
certainly racial slurs, just as Sp** is to Latinos and in case you
didn't know, Mark throws that one out every now and then too. It
doesn't stop there either, he's not reluctant to wish loss of limb, or
even death to someone he perceives as changing what he likes as a
pastime, not to mention how how he's railed on those unfortunate souls
who lost their lives on a particular brand of motorcycle he dislikes,
so please, don't go there with me. I've seen more than needed to make
an informed judgement on Mr. Buttbomb and until he fundamentally
changes his way of conversing, I'm done..

    I don't know where you're at, but I reside/subsist in the USA
down(south)where the rubber meets the road and one of the last thing
I'm about is political correctness, as I believe it's used (waaaay too
many times) to divide, instead of unite, however, I do draw a very
thick line(oysters!!;-) at elitist bullshit and that's pretty much
what's this whole deal is really about and very little more...

A-hah! So we get to the real issue here, eh, the slurring of
southerners? So maybe the "n-word" has nothing to do with this, it's
about you feeling slighted? Well, I wasn't slurring southerners at
all, I was parodying your habitually folksy politicking, your chosen
personality style in this group, the ol' cracker jack, the Ayatollah
of Apostrophes, using the image of the typical southern politician of
~75 years ago, the Huey Longs, the Willie Starks, the Pappy "pass the
biscuits please" O'Daniels. You know, when such people could get away
with referring to blacks in rather disparaging terms, even in public
    speeches.

You want to leave that history behind, then dump the personality.
Along with your attitude toward "nips"...

    Champ notes:
Indeed. It's just not done over here, least not if
you don't intend to offend on purpose and maybe
get a busted nose, as T3 says.

Or you can do it on-line but only if you're a kid
whose mom didn't teach him any better.

    Go fast. Take chances.

Hopefully so. But first note that this particular thread was about
what I said, what I intended by it, the spirit of the communication,
the words chosen, what you and others think about that, what terms you
use, etc. What it supposedly was not about was your continuing
attempts to discredit me by any means available, to neutralize my
positions and comments about DMG, which of course we all know is and
always has been the foundation of everything you've said here. So
before you run on fiurther about"he's the one who killed off Nicky and
Rog Ed!", think for a moment about how this damages your credibility
on pretty much anything. But maybe it doesn't matter anyway, how can
you be less than zero in that regard?
Just because someone doesn't like what some big sourthern corporation
is doing doesn't make them elitist, Tom. And by the way, it's
Republicans who always use that "elitist" line to con the hicks into
    voting for them...

Yeah, I prolly went a corner too far given your present circumstances,
but then, you prolly did too..
Where your at it might be, here in the States, well, it's a "little"
    different, trust me..
I'm happy you don't have those issues, wished we didn't..
Use the 'ger term here, dail 911 first..
And that's the hook Neal, you're taking umbrage, or joviality at
someone's race, or ancestry and if that someone was your best friend,
or lover and in your face, would you? (face test)I'm from the southern
United States, I'm white, I'm educated and I know full well there has
been and is, ongoing racial issues about, and believe it, or not, they
happen more in other regions than the South. It's wrong and not just a
little wrong, but totally wrong and I reject every damn bit of it..!
Perspective, you want perspective? Not a prob, check this. This very
day I decided to retired(again) so a decent dude (Mark would call a
N*****) can keep his job (and keep feeding his family) so please,
gimmee a fukin' break on perspective, okay? I, unfortunately, either
see, or hear of crap like this damn near every day..

All this garbage aside, hopefully someday you'll regain your health and
find the time to leap the pond and allow me to introduce you to some
*real Southern hospitality* (cheese grits, shrimp, oysters, deep fried
Gator and a badass ride!;-)and more than likely it will also be filled
with more body colors and hair styles than you thought possible. It's
like this, there is so very much we all have in common and anyone that
uses race, or ancestry is divisive and should be shunned, but that's
just me and how I see life, and though I'm not so myopic that I don't
think others might not agree, but in that case, FUKUM...!

On another and waaay OT note, you know anything about a group called
Duffy? My resident McRedhead (McClain) says they're from somewhere
around you, anyway, I saw them on SNL and it was the tightest
performance I've seen on live TV since Prince did electric chair 15
years ago! Two words, fuckin' awesome!!

MERCY, yeah, yeah, yeah, oh fuk yeah....!
