Alternator output?

With the changing season I'm thinking about some heated riding gear. But I
don't know if my bike's charging system has the extra capacity for it. I've
tried to work it out on my own, but my Google-fu is not strong enough, and I
must now beg for help. Does anyone have a good read on the rated alternator
    output on a 1982 Honda CB900F?

    Thanks,

Thanks. 50-75W seems reasonable, and I'll keep an eye on the voltage. I've
been considering converting my running lights to LEDs for visibility and
reliability. Converting the tail and marker lights would only save around
20 watts, but even that much might be useful.

I don't know the figure for your bike, but thats OK, it will be in your
    manual.
Figure your running load, (all the lamps are in the manual too),
add 40W. for ignition, subtract from alternator rating, and you have
    the
'headroom` for heated gear, which is also marked with its wattage.
Most of the time you don't have too much power to spare, but you can
    use
the heat intermittantly, and let the battery recharge in the 'off`
    cycles.
(Some gear is on a thermostat which does this anyway.)
It's not a good idea to run the alternator too close to max all the
    time.
Just make sure you shut down the heat about 10-15 Min. before you park
so you can get a start in the morning.

Yes, if only I had the manual. See, I put it in a folder in my filing
cabinet, so it'd be safe and I'd know where it was. Even now, I could reach
into the cabinet and grab the manual without even looking.

But then I moved house, and now I can't find my filing cabinet.
