I ordered some Altberg boots a few months back (there's a waiting list).

They arrived and wouldn't fit around my calf. Well calfs I suppose, or
    is it calves; I forget.

I sent them back to be modified but they couldn't make them large
enough, they did however offer to make another style to which they'd add
    an Aquatex membrane.

Received the paperwork today, It's going to cost another 40 quid to have
them hand cut. However they're only charging me half of the postage on
this time 'cos it's company policy.

On the downside it's another months wait. Good job I don't need the
    boots really...

All in all I've been rather impressed by Altberg.

Whew, I'd stick with the Daytona's if it was that much trouble (I have both
natch). Fit big calf's they do.

I was under the impression his post was involved sarcasm. Of course,
this wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong.

What part were you most impressed by?
    1. The waiting list?
    2. The poor fit?
    3. Their inability to meet your requirements?
    4. The lack of a breathable waterproofing membrane in the original boots?
    5. The extra expense?
    6. The extra months wait?

Or are you really the anti-customer?

It's something that is, really. Isn't it. I either take part or don't.
Not Altberg's fault that my legs are larger than most. I can't fit into
any of the Sidi Verterbrae stuff (for example) but wouldn't criticise
    Sidi for it.
Hmm... I thought they had satisfied my requirements.
There was in the original, but not in the proposed replacement style.
    Hence they suggested adding it.
I've chosen to ask them to 'semi-custom build' something. Seems
reasonable that this will involve them in greater costs so the price is
    higher.
Again, doesn't bother me greatly and, if it was urgent they could have
been more accomodating. However this would have pushed someone else's
order back and since I don't really need the boots it seems a little
    churlish to inconvenience someone else.

In any case they did give me the option to get my money back; I just
    chose not to take it.

Ahh, the restrictions of the textual medium, the lack of facial
    expression, tonal inflections etc.

OTOH I am training as a Master Of The Obvious (MOTO).

Ah, ok then. You are aware of the fact that they do offer a made-to-
measure service? Had you taken that option you would have received a
    pair of boots to fit.

But, seeing as you obviously didn't take that option up and are quite
willing to pay extra for some more inconvenience, who gives a shit?

Hang on, are you trying to be a nice deadmail or something? Because for
a while now you have been quite vitriolic towards me, even to the point
of stating that I'm a TV, for some odd reason.

I tend to treat the people the way they treat me, treat me like shit and
that's what you'll get back. I assume that's a natural thing; after all
respect is earnt and not a given.

I very very nearly walked away from the NG not so long ago and it was
due to less than a handful of people. I took some time off to calm down
but I am still here because I don't see why the small-minded minority
    should hound me out.

Not being 'nice' just pointing out that you've suddenly switched from
asking questions to being rude for no real reason.

I've only bitten back when provoked if you really want to pursue this
one then look at the threads.

And, as for vitriolic that's not true. I haven't really tried to be
rude to you. We both know where this resentment comes from and I
apologised at the time; get over it and move on or kill file me.

Well, in this thread I don't see where I've 'treated you like shit'. I
made a post basically saying I was happy with Altberg's service. You
questioned whether I was being sarcastic in one post and then chose to
    respond aggressively in another.

Now, here's a little tip. If you don't like what I post then don't
bother following up to me. You'll note it's rare I follow up to your
posts. That way you'll ensure my words don't offend you.
Who's trying to hound you out?

Go or stay, it's all the same to me.

Mind you, I'll miss your predictable response to the thieving scouser
    line.

I made a (genuine) mistake some time back which was rather offensive
towards Lesley. I apologised and at the time she seemed fine with it.

Over time, it must have knawed at her since this isn't the first time
she's got moody. Naturally I'd normally be downright rude under these
circumstances but I thought I'd try and confront this 'cos it's all
    rather boring really.
