    Thanks all! The couple in question have never visited a newsgroup, I'm
    not ready to walk them thro' the process either, not this late!

    I had a look at autos.alfa you're right (whoever it was) not half so
    witty as here. My first reply was "I take it that there is a cliff
    nearby?" from serf!

    Perhaps this weekend I will show them the delights of ukrm.

    I think all Fiat Group cars of that era suffered from it. Happened to
    the Cinq. a couple of times, too.
