The chair's bolted securely onto the K, the electrics are done apart
from the front sidelight on the chair and as soon as I've got a new
set of front wheel spacers it'll be time to learn the black art of
    being an outfit pilot.

It took about two hours to strip off the fairing lowers, remove the
stands and bolt on the subframe yesterday then another five hours to
mount the sidecar and sort out most of the wiring. I'd been expecting
that lot to take a couple of weekends so I'm pretty happy with
    progress so far.

I've not checked the alignment yet but how difficult can that be? I'm
supposed to be a mechanical engineer so kicking it into something like
the right place should be easy.

I reckon I need a bigger battery to power the extra lights and my
heated kit so should I just throw one in the chair and wire it in
parallel with the existing one or should I disconnect the existing one
first? The alternator should be able to keep up with things and I'll
Optimate it for a couple of weeks before leaving for Germany just to
make me feel better even if it makes no difference.

Expect some serious lunacy with Burnt and myself thrashing **** out of
our bikes to see who's got the fastest outfit..

I don't need a machine gun mount because I'm going for a slightly
different approach to taking enemy territory.

I'm going to order a set direct from Wasp because they've got the
drawings to make them from and they know exactly what I need which is
more than I can claim to do.

    Thanks for the offer though.

OH yes happy memories of riding a BSA A10 plunger with watsonian
child/ adult chair and TOGs Jawa.
When I was at school my physics teacher taught us that a three legged
structure is the most staable one of all. Well I can tell you that he
was wrong. A sidecar has three points of contact with the ground and
its the most unstable thing going.

_ Remember the chair is there when you pull up next to the petrol
    pumps

    &

-Just remember when you get back on a solo that you have to put your
    feet down when you stop

Just remember to get the communications sorted out between the rider and
the chair. On the mission you're contemplating, it could be the
difference between tea & medals, and "For you, Bonvick, zer vor ist
    over".

Are you going to machine him a nice MG42 mount?

get an AGM one (e.g. Westco or Hawker Odyssey)

They give better cranking output in low temperatures. They also work when
    inverted, and thereafter.

Cheshire Batteries were selling the popular Odyssey PC680 at a good price a

  8. I would've thought the existing battery in good condition would be fine
with that but if you really need a bigger one I'd put it in the chair to
help a bit with the weight dist. How much extra are you pulling from the
battery with all your extra kit, and what's the spec of the alternator
output, and existing Ah of the battery? ie, will all the shite switched
on drain more than the alt can supply?

    Certainly not, you traitor.

    It'll be a nice Vickers K mount.

Bonners, are you sorted for the spacers, or do you need me to do
something? I'm about all this week if you do.

When I had the ST2 on the K75, Wasp made the subframes. Lore was that
they never fitted properly, but mine was bang on. That said, I was short
of a spacer though, and when I phoned Wasp to ask for the spacer the
chap seemed genunely surprised that I wasn't calling up to say it didn't
    fit...

That makes sense, thanks for the ideas.

I'll have a look around to see if I can get a voltmeter locally and
then wire it in before I make a decision on what to do.

**** me, this is getting more "Apollo 13" by the minute.

"Okay, Aquarius. We're working on what's going
to happen next. In the meantime, we'd like to
take some high-power items off the line, so on
panel ll, open DECA POWER, and open DECA GIMBAL.
On 16, open the ATCA breaker."

  16. More like Apollo 1, if the wiring lives up to expectations.

You probably know about this description of fix for old and no longer
    reliable OE voltmeters:

Years ago had a BSA A7 with a Swallow single chair attached. When I
first put it together I was unaware of the need to align chair and
bike and to use the steering damper. Made the first ride fun within a
mile I had managed to climb a gerden wall and put the outfit on it's
side. Also no bugger told me that it's easy to lift the chair wheel on
a left hand bend. Great fun when you're trying to do it on purpose,
but a shit maker when it first happens by mistake.

Later, when I thought I had the hang of it and was in the process of
passing a stationary bus on a country lane in Dorset I had to pull
back and make an emergency stop. The look on the face of my friend in
the chair was amazing cos the chair was diving under the bus as the
bike was coming alongside. Managed to stop with just inches between
the chair windscreen and the back of the bus. The kids in the back of
the bus had much fun taking the piss, but then I deserved it. The
driver was fine 'No damage to the bus mate, so I don't care.'.

    Have fun.

    They fit lovely.

At least, they would, had some ham-fisted fucknugget not stripped the
helicoil by fitting the wrong sized bolt.

I've ordered a new one, and all will be well in the end.

Also was able to play helpful neighbour to Gixxer6 owner over the
    road.

It wouldn't start. No lights, nothing. Multimeter: 0.09v not good.

Tried the powerpack - ran fine - disconnect - stopped.

Sent him off to Halfords, then back to a different Halfords, to get
the correct battery, and all's well.

All I need to do now is the anti-dive swap on the Wing's forks, and
I'm ready to hit the Pyrenees once more.

PS anyone waiting on RBR updates should check back in April at the
    earliest.
