Racing, and I haven't looked into it, and am just adding my
contribtuion to the noise that is ukrm, is expensive, and
involve more commitment than track days.
It's probably the "best" way of getting a lot of track time.
The chance to point and laugh at porl; reason enough for most
    people.

If team ukrm could manage to sport two bikes this might be a goer. I
imagine it would strain existing resources too far though for it to be a
    realistic option.

See my post about KRC's requirements. And, it has to be said, the
pace is pretty damn hot at the front of KRC. I don't think it'll a
good place for newbies. And it's expensive, too.
Going to meetings as a small group of 2 or 3 does make a lot of sense,
however. There's few lonelier places than a race paddock by yourself,
trying to change wheels, fix broken bits, change visors, while trying
to listen for the tannoy call for your race.

The way to do this is to get a bike each, and share transport and
garage/workshop space. It seems that Darsy has two track bikes and
    Porl none, tho...

don't get me wrong - I'm all for the idea, and since Angie's agreed
that it's OK for me to go racing, I can't think of a reason not to do
it - I just think we need to think it through a bit.

As I said above, I would happily put in for sharing a bike or buy my own if
I could make use of garage space and vehicle support.

accusing you of being a cheapskate was not on my agenda. What I think
would be a cool start, is we can do a trackday somewhere short and
twisty (Lydden Hill again, maybe) and we can all have a go on a
selection of bikes and try and agree what would be the best type to go
    racing on.

Obviously, my RGV is the closest to a race bike we currently have, but
it's 1/2 Blaney's so I'd need some input from him.

    Umm, yeah: "Whatever"

Just don't kill it before I get to ride it.

Speaking of which, my cousin is getting married next Easter, so I'll
try to come back for a little bit of time either side of the wedding
and do a few trackdays. You'll have to get the tube to work.

    heh - sure.
NP - I'm fairly determined to get the 'blade sold in the next couple
of months, so neither of our co-owned bikes will be used for
    commuting.

Actually, I got the train into work today.

Dammit. I was hoping to inconvenience you by my selfish whims.

Course, you could always come with me to those trackdays.
Oh yeah, forgot about that plan.
    Couple of beers after work?

It might be a better idea if we look at what kind of racing we want to do,
see if it fits with the current bikes under our (your) ownership and then
modify it/get another one. I don't even know how we'd go about trying a
selection of bikes. No one's trying mine around Lydden that's for sure
fuckery, and I ain't going to race it either. I imagine no one's going to
try Simon's Mille either, but he's been curiously quiet in this thread...

I'd quite like to try supermoto racing. That way we could all break
our legs and decide to give up in the minimum amount of time.
take a bunch of them to a track, and try a different bike each
    session.
I think he's looking the other way.

Hmm..you're your own there. Everyone I know who's tried it in racing has
suffered leg injuries of some kind. I *like* what happens on a sports bike,
the feeling of being over the front wheel, knee down action. But what we
need to do here is keep coming up with various other ideas so that we never
actually get around to it at all :p
    Again, how? Which bikes?

err, no - Simon's up for this too...
but you're sort of right here too. If we wanted to do it cheaply, we
    should do MZ racing, BTW...
I'd hire a van, and put my RGV, my ZX-7R and the 'blade's replacement
(theoretically a supermoto DR-Z400S) down to Lydden in a van. When I
was out on one, someone else could be trying another.
