If you haven't looked right through the Almax chains website this vid of
an "English Chains" security device being cut is impressive, especially
when the link lets go. Those bolt croppers are the utter dogs danglies!

Such a shame their product is so ludicrously priced

Odd really, especially as the vid makes it quite clear that in under 25
seconds you can see one of their chains right off by hand.

That was the demo at the Alexandra Palace.
Almax kindly worked on my credit card but they did a reasonable discount
at the show. Those chains weigh a ton.

  5. I wonder if they're going to sell that clip to the cropper manufacturers.

Same chain in situ wouldn't be quite so easy though, although clearly
    not exactly difficult either.

I wonder how long a cordless angle grinder takes to get through any of
these though. I took my old drive chain off with the new Dremel last
week, we were v.impressed at how quickly it melted the pins away.

  7. The smart criminals don't go for the chain they go for the lock internals .

Best padlock you can buy is an abloy

  10. Yes far better , abloys to date have never been picked they have a pot of
cash waiting for the first person that can do it (the offers been there for
    around 80 years)
Squire locks whilst good can be cut with croppers (even though they are sold
secure) and if you nuke them with freezing equipment then a well placed
screwdriver and hammer will open the lock in about 60 seconds , this doesnt
work on the abloys as the locking and key internals are completly different
you would just jamb the lock up if you could actually get a screwdriver in
