But the velcro only seems to allow one position for them - and it's not on my hip. In order to achieve this the waist band would be up near my armpits. And the position changes when seated or standing. Thanks for all your responses Paul, they have been really informative.
No manufacturer of off-the-peg gear is ever going to get it right for everyone. It would be nice to think that at least some of them will get it right for some people, however I suspect that the profit motive makes that outcome extremely unlikely. Making affordable products that genuinely work for the majority (as opposed to those which they can persuade us are likely to work) would just be too costly. Either accept the risk that goes with the activity, or don't do it.
Oh, don't get me wrong, I accept the risks. I have had these jeans for 10 years now and only asked about the armour positioning as ths thread prompted my chain of thoughts and Paul is obviously SWK.
Paul knows a hell of a lot about the subject, and actually cares about it too. From a consumer's point of view he's the one I'd want in charge of a company producing bikewear. From a shareholder's, no way... (no offence intended, Paul!)
None taken - but at the moment I am busier with motorcycle clothing work than I have ever been, so several companies' shareholders might be asking questions at their next AGM! Perhaps the consumers' influence is starting to make an impression...
