Goretex shmoretex. If Cordura was good enough for erm.... well anyway
it'll be good enough for me.

My decadant item will be a folding stool, for the campsite.

I am with Darsy here, the getting there in the rain is no issue. A
tent in the rain in a boggy Belgian field is another matter. Camping
is pretty shite anyway, add the rain and I'd sooner be elsewhere.

I went and bought one at the weekend. I'm travelling light this year and
without panniers my usual camping chair is a bit wide across the back.>

  5. Have you considered what Ogden does when he's not doing that? In
    comparison, maybe it's fun.

It wasn't, at least where the weather was concerned.

The rest of the festival was pretty good but the weather made it a
    rather punishing ordeal.

If your stools are folding, you probably need more fibre in your diet.

Those kind of stools aren't folding, they're minging.

If they're that bad, you probably still need more fibre in your diet.

Yup. A wet Tog Tour isn't so much of a problem when you know that at
the end of the road there's a nice room, a hot bath and a decent
dinner waiting. All indoors. Two days in a boggy Belgian field in the
rain isn't quite the same thing. And there's nowhere under cover to
    watch the racing, either.

The bar is the problem. There's a few beer sheds dotted around and
that's your lot apart from what you buy at the local supermarket.

The place in Bootle had some amazing tents! But I got the Khyam
Freelander. The Vango festival tepee 5 man nearly had me though, they
look pretty good for a cheap tent. No good for German winters though.
