    I'd be fucking amazingly surprised.

I've definitely hit the "garlic ceiling" already - only one person in
London has ever gone higher in the org than I have, and I reckon she's
    got blackmail evidence against someone.

Very rare call in the modern working culture, it's either "not my job"
or "I'm not paid enough to make decisions like that" or simply "I don't
want to cop the flak if it all goes wrong".

As far as I'm concerned decisions have to be made, sometimes they don't
work out as expected and sometimes they do, either way it's a learning
    experience.

Mine used to say "the person who never made a wrong decisHeion, never
    made a decision".

He also, however, used to say "a lack of planning on your part does not
    constitute an emergency on mine".

Looking good for the Limousin. A pity I won't be over in time for the
    Trofeo Rosso this year.

    It was that all right.

One of our printers summed it up afterwards, as we cracked a couple of
bottles to celebrate having pulled it off: "We all knew what we had to
do, and we just went ahead and did it. Without any fucking meetings."

#If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.[1]

[1] I'm only doing this to mess with your and Eddie's minds, you
understand - quoting Rush lyrics should not be taken as an indication
    that I condone them.

How did I manage that FFS? A 'He' lurking on the clipboard perhaps.

This was in the days of 'dictaphones' and typing pools.

I thought it was maybe inferring that at the heights of the corporate
ladder decisions were mostly a male prerogative.

Unless, "We all need to pull together whilst Neal recuperates" became, "we
seem to have finished our projects ahead of schedule and with reduced man
    hours without him"

If you find yourself in the position of needing a new job somewhere they
seem to tolerate slackers, wasters and general know-nothings, we'll be
    hiring a new TA shortly...

Have you been brown nosing appropriately?

No. Brown-nosing doesn't seem to feature in my skillset. Seems I'm
not as English as I thought I was[1].

[1] Q. How do you get 20 Englismen in a Mini?
    A. Promote one, and the others will crawl up his arse.

**** me, I have to make that sort of decision nearly every day but I'm
lucky in that our clients know that if they throw me off site the next
    incompetent might be more incompetent.

I'm utterly hopeless too hence the DX-BT transition wasn't to my liking.
In the Scottish company brownosing would only invite derision, calling
someone a useless **** was fair practice and the MD (6'7") was known to
stop arguments by holding someone up by the ankles.

OTOH you did have to turn in long days, usually 6 of them, and work your
    socks off. Again, unlike BT....
