That's silly money for a 125. Still, They've got a captive market with
    learners haven't they?

The Honda XR125 is only 350[1] more than a CG, looks cooler, more fun
and will hold its value better. I know which one I'd have.

[1] 1999 for the CG, 2349 for the XR

IMHO Honda have produced more ground breaking bikes than any other
    Japanese manufacturer.

CB450 Black Bomber, first 'large' Jap bike.
    CB750, first superbike
    Fireblade, first 'modern' superbike[1]
    Goldwing, first super tourer
    ............

Agreed others have done it better since, but Honda was there first.
Would we have had the original Z1 and the R1 et al without Honda doing
    there thing first.

[1] Though you could argue for the GSXR750.

  5. Pilot V8 for sure. And, of course, the T, the A and the Y.

  6. So? Apart from an interesting (and ultimately doomed) engine design, it
    wasn't anything ground-breaking.

Yes, agreed. Just not a very nice bike to ride fast.

I really think the GPZ900R deserves this accolade. The Blade moved
things on, but the 900R did it first.

Not really. It wasn't sold as a tourer originally, and it was pretty
crap at everything until Honda started bolting on the bling. I think the
BMW R100RS is probably more deserving of the title. Not that the Wing
wasn't a helluva machine, though. Still is.
No, you couldn't. 900R every time.

  8. Heh. I wasn't thinking that far back, but yes. T-bird and Mustang in the
    US, as well, of course.

Close. But I think the ultimate prize for 'most evil rally car' has to
    go to this:

You can pick up a brand new CBR125R for around the 2100 to 2200 mark if
you shop around and are prepared to haggle to the death.

Talking of Finnish Accidents, did you see Raikonnen, yesterday?

I know what a non-round tyre feels like, but I'd never actually seen
    on in action before.

How he kept it on the tarmac as long as he did is a mystery. To me,
    anyway.

Well, I don't want to appear as PR spokesman for Bernie, but to my
untrained eye, there's been more "racing" action this season, than in
    the last ten.

The "one set of tyres" rule is a great idea, even if the drivers and
    teams don't like it.

I'd like to see F1 going back to the rules that produced the turbo
    nutter monsters of the 80s.

I know the rules themselves were fairly wide-ranging and that the cars
were limited by the technology of the time, but surely they can write
the rules to come up with something that would bring similar performance
    and parity between the teams?

ISTR, at the time, there was an 'overboost' button that could be used to
give a bit of extra boost for overtaking, but you had to be careful with
it or you'd run out of fuel.

I are not be following F1, as per usual - I personally find it a bit boring,
and have done since the days of Mansell, Prost, Senna and co, and turbos -
it's supposedly the pinnacle of four wheeled motor racing, and yet the
regulations are constantly being used to slow things down. I appreciate
however, the ingenuity that the teams sometimes show, in effectively
    overcoming the regulations...

I am however, off to Brands next weekend, to watch BTCC... which is much
more entertaining - trading of paint is the norm, for one thing. :0)

IMHO excessive downforce is the ruin of F1. Get rid of the wings and
spoilers and you get longer braking distances and the ability to get it
sideways without losing the airflow and spinning out.

That Maserati that Clarkson was arseing around in on Sunday looked
    fun.

    275bhp and drum brakes. Woohoo.
