No, but I think I spotted a tartan blanket on the parcel shelf of at least
    one of them :0D

As training places go locally, they're one of the better ones anyway.

Used to work in a local bike dealers, so probably got a bit more feedback on
    such places, than most.

There are some interesting routes around the town and up to Capel, I
suppose. I have to admit that when I'm in a Around Towm bimbling mood
I go around Folkestone and up to Capel.

  4. Ouch.

    I've just bought this:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4551544747

Which I reckon is rather a better bet. Not learner legal, obviously.

  5. It's hard to think of many mass-market ones, agreed. I mean, expensive
exotica like the RC390 and earlier CB1100R come to mind.

If we're talking great Hondas, I'd be biased and include the 400 Four.
The 750 comes to mind, but while it was an incredible trendsetter and
way advanced for the era, I've never actually considered it a nice bike
to ride. And I've owned two and ridden several more.

    Um..... CBX1000....

Er..... CX500. Again, incredibly advanced design, at a price anyone
    could afford.

    VFR750

    Gold Wing.

CBR600, like it or loathe it. Can't think of many more off the top of my
    head, mind.

This is a solemn moment. Such dedication to The Holy Cult cannot be
    overlooked.

It therefore gives me great pleasure to award Grand High Prophet Of The
Holy Unquestioned Faith #29 to JackH. This is the first GHPOTHUF number
to be awarded for a couple of years, and as such is a signal honour.

A short acceptance speech is considered good form at this point.

  7. Virtually every Honda trail bike was underpowered and overweight for
dirt use. The XL250S and XL185S were honourable exceptions.
    Indeed.... (you bastard)

  8. Agreed, but then the same could be said of Ford and their cars in the
    4-wheel market.

They're brillitant at producing pretty good vehicles which do what
they're supposed to do, and which appeal to a broad spectrum.

But if you want to count really desirable classic Fords, you'd have a
short list. GT40, obviously, some Escort RS models, a Cosworth or
    two....

    And what else? Anyone?

  11. In uk.rec.motorcycles, Muck amazed us all with this pearl of wisdom:
AOL. It seemed like a natural progression from the 125 but alas, I never
    got to own one.

  12. I said "some RS models" YTC!
I suppose the Capri counts. Ish. Certainly the 3-litre or 2.8i.

And what the **** is that supposed to be? Not like any RS200 ever to
grace a Ford UK brochure, to be sure.

    Yes it was.

It was a homologation special 'Group B' rally car.

Not many made it onto the roads, and they were stupidly expensive.

(Are you sure you're not getting it confused with the Escort RS2000?)

What? Even I know that's an RS200. The police even got one or two if I
remember right. Maybe sir was thinking of an RS2000?

You know what really, really, annoys me? News servers that don't
    support Cancels.

Sir is correct on all counts, of course, as I realised soon after
    pressing send...
