  1. Had the same issue in Belgium on the recent TogTour.

That's all they're good for. As transport they're outdated and obsolete.
For city commuting/fun, a 125 trail bike. For somebody who's not 'into'
bikes a twist and go scooter is better than a CG.

I don't know why people have such an anti Honda viewpoint, IMHO Honda
have done more to drive the market forward than any other Japanese
    manufacturer.

I think I had, too... the joys of trying to 'knock one out quickly' (1),
    before one ventures out
Ah, right... probably where I did mine too - top place, IMHO.

    (1) A post to UKRM ffs, not one of *those*! ;-)

I'd sooner be seen on one of those, than that behemoth you have. If you
want to be cossetted by a sound system and comfy armchair, buy a car -
probably cheaper, and on the same par when it comes to filtering.

And besides, the likes of Robbo buy them... 'nuff said.

Y'know, here's a funny thing. The BlingMobile is a tad wider than
Dodger's 'Wing. And I filter quite nicely-thank-you-very-much on my
commute between North Herts and Twickenham. In fact I quite often have
to cut to lane 1A to get round the wankers who are failing to filter in
    2A.

So, all in all Jack, I'd say you're talking out of your arse.

Quelle surprise, as the original Crazy Frog would say.

Cheap to buy, cheap to insure, mega cheap to run... and not even as sluggish
as their appearance suggests - a good town bike IMHO.

Plus they sound like a 'real bike' ;-)
The provisional licence equivalent to a 'Chelsea Tractor', given that
    statement?

I'd sooner have a CG, tbh - costs less: I was in a dealers earlier, and they
had the new 'DT125MX' in - a DT125 supermoto, no less... and just a shade
    over £3.1k to buy.

The CG is less likely to go walkies, (whereas small trailies are probably
one of the most sought after bikes by thieving scum), more economical, and
almost certainly just as quick if you stay within the confines of 14.4bhp
    restriction.

I'm not saying trailies are bad, I'm saying in this context, they're not
really that economical a buy, not least for someone on a budget, who's
looking to pass his test and buy a 'proper bike', in about three months
    time.

Cars and bikes, do it for me... and not necessarily 'exotica'. We've just
bought our second bubble shape Micra 1.3 - brilliant little cars that are
fun to drive, and quicker than you'd expect, when you cane them :-D
Ho yuss... the elation as I managed to overtake not one, but *two* cars on
    the open road, earlier! ;-)

Try doing the same through Central London, on a daily basis - I was planning
to get a Pan a while back, for 'the job', and the general consensus amongst
the other couriers, was that they're a PITA, when you get into areas as
congested as that - a common mod, is to bin the panniers and mirrors, and
stick aftermarket mirrors on, if you're that dedicated to having one in that
    line of work.

I still stand by the other comments anyway - if you want creature comforts,
go buy a car, not a bike that looks like it's just rolled out of DFS.
It's an arse significantly slimmer than yours, by sounds of it.

I don't see the point in that 'bike' either, tbh - but 'each to their own',
    eh...

Hmm, particularly stinky, but I'll play along for now:

VFR750... I miss mine, might get another soonish as I've come to the
conclusion I might as well just use the Fazer until I have enough money to
go out and buy something I really want, rather than 'making do' with
    whatever comes up at around what that will fetch - excellent bikes anyway;
the sound of the lump, their longevity, the way they're screwed together,
and their all round roundedness... it all adds up to a 'decent bike', IMHO,
and I note the early 800s are quite reasonably priced now too... Having
said all that, I've had decent, affordable quotes on almost everything I've
looked into recently, including the Hayabusa and Blackbird, and you can pick
them up cheap enough now, too. :)

Pan European - it this isn't a decent bike, given its design brief, and how
well it goes about achieving the goals asked of it, then I dunno what. Plod
    seems to agree, anyway.

Dax - in other words, the Monkey Bike - on the strength of the novelty
factor alone, these get my vote as being 'decent'.

Various trailies bearing the XL badge - overall, all are good at what
they're designed to do, as in, get bogged down in mud.

Vertically challenged? VFR400 NC30 or CBR400 Aero are both decent bikes for
    the more stumpy.

TOG will be along presently to wax lyrically about the 400/4, amongst other
    old Honda shite. ;-)

His number plate was something like N239 AGH and I kept looking at the
AGH! on the numberplate and smiling. Silly really.
He was a bit heterosexual, but he was a beardy and 5'5" tall and that
    always amuses me.

Being in a car always felt like being in a big metal bath tub to me, and
going quick in one felt like being shaken about in a big metal bath tub.
I don't really like the sensation of being all enclosed in a car either,
nor do I like going fast in one any more.
Let me guess, they were parked? ;)

  19. In uk.rec.motorcycles, Muck amazed us all with this pearl of wisdom:
AOL to the going fast bit. The the last two times I went fast in one (as
    a passenger)[1] I was scared shitless.
I remember my Dad said that to my Mum when she said she overtook a
Porsche. I didn't get it at the time, being about 8...

I guess that being more used to riding a bike than driving a car does
it, although I don't know why.
