I got the ole V-Star all washed and waxed today. I dumped the oil from the
Arizona trip and installed a new oil filter and put in 3 quarts of fresh
oil. The motorcycle and I are ready for a run to Mena next week. Whatcha
    think?

I will be off Wednesday thru Sunday. Anytime during the week is fine
with me. We could be back home for the motorcycle show. All we need is
one day to look at the colors anyways. Maybe ride up one day..spend the
night and come home or we could even make a day trip. Doesnt matter
    much to me.

wants to go. I can go any day from Wednesday thru Sunday.

I just got word that one of my brother in laws is in the hospital and has
    had
three major surgeries, in the past few days. I'll be sticking close to home
for a day or two to find out whether I need to make a fast trip to
    Guadalajara.

Maybe by Wednesday, we'll know what is taking place down there.. Otherwise,
count me in on this run.. lol.. Regards

    Louie,
Did you rent that Harley and what did you think of it? Are you still
    thinking about buying a wing??

Yes I'm thinking of a Wing. After riding that rental I was ashamed of my
    Valkyrie.

Yes I rented the Harley. After riding that rental I'm very proud of my
    Valkyrie.

Tomorrow I looking at an alternative.

I kinda figured it would go something like that. I really think the wing is
the way to go. I am thinking real hard about a wing myself. If it was up to
my wife, we would already have one. I think I will contact my brother in
laws friend Lee ( you met him in Mena) and see what and where HE would think
the best deal can be bought.

See if I've got this right.
The Wing was ''windy'er'', and the Hawley was what,''shaky'er''(?).
    (evil grin, walker style)

    Not real right.
as equipped the Wing is windy compared to my Valk as equipped. Most Wingers
have added wind deflecting accessories to remedy this, and I would also.

    and the Hawley was what,''shaky'er''(?).
The Harley is only shaky at low rpm. Pretty smooth going on down the road.
Ergonomically, and performance wise it isn't a fit for me.

I tested the highly acclaimed FJR1300 the other day, and it too wasn't to my
    liking.

I'm going to try out a low mileage Voyager today.

What was abrasive about the FJ?

I know, but I just hate to deplete my motorcycle pot-O-gold on just one
    motorcycle.

I don't believe I'd go for that airbag on the wing. Another thing that
pisses me about the wing you can't get the ABS with the standard equipped
wing. You have to get the comfort pack, and the navigation system to get the
ABS....running up the cost. I'd like the nav system but I don't like it
    almost 2000 bucks worth.

Otoh I sure like that wing.

I really like the FJR myself but I dont think its the right bike if
your going to be riding two up very much. Thats whats kinda steared me
    away from one.

hmmm... I believe that I've expressed my opinion to you about this issue,
    several
times in the past few weeks.. The motorcycle you ride is your own
    business..In
my opinion, that Valkyrie fits perfectly.. You and your two up, are
    perfectly at
ease and enjoy the ride on that thing.. Both of you look like you are
    totally at home
no matter whether you are chasing a sport tourer at 110 mph, or just
    cruising down
    the highway at the limit..

When you are riding that black Valk solo, you seem to be in sync with the
    motorcycle
and comfortable with the performance and control of it..

Now then.. the Wing you rented for the last run to Mena was a very nice
    motorcycle,
but.. it wasn't yours.. and I could tell that by yours and the two ups
    posture on the bike.
That's not to say that you had a problem with the motorcycle, it is only to
    say that
you and the Valkyrie fit together better..

LOL. I'm not surprised to learn that you and the Harley weren't an exact
    match.. The
Harley was designed for a particular breed of biker.. That's not a bad
    thing, either..
That's to say that Harleys' are more of a traditional bikers' concept and
    many of us
who have tried them, aren't really inclined to assume the responsibilities
    of Harley
ownership.. I've ridden with quite a few Harley riders who also fit their
    motorcycles
perfectly.. To each his own.. Regards

in brief, I think Bill is saying; ''That Louie is not the type to wear
all that Orange and black Harley attire''(Underware and such) .And that
    stuff cost.
Another thought though, a Harley might be more appropreiate parked
outside of that Bar, you own. Or did you get out of that business.??
A big old Gold Wing Barge, might not look good for your image, if you
    still operate the Bar.
(I have no doubt the Mighty Valk looked awright parked there.. or did
you ever ride it to work????~~(friendly Grin)~~

Louie doesn't "own" a bar.. That was a mistaken impression that I'd
gotten and passed it on to this newsgroup.. Forget it.. And if appropriate,
I apologize to Louie for the mistake that I made..
