Air kits, hyperchargers and rain riding

If you have an air kit with the element exposed, or a hypercharger with the
butterflies (Kuryakyn), is there a problem with riding in the rain?

I noticed Thunder sells rain covers for their kits. Are these necessary, or
just something they sell for people who worry too much?

    TIA

Get an original air box, very good performance on most
bikes, and live happily ever after.

A water soaked paper filter element will make a lot of
resistance. The exposed air filters are often very badly
tuned and the hypercharger is a bad taste joke.

    YMMV
