  1. When you change air filter is it then normal to apply a bit of motor oil on
    it??
    is that good?

I don't think so. Not unless it's a filter designed for it, like K&N.

  3. For a foam air filter, yes. For a folded paper type, no.

  4. Never oil a paper filter, that ruins paper filters...

Wash a cloth and wire mesh K&N filters in kerosene and they will last a
long time. I have some that are 20 years old. Lightly oil them and set
them aside for a day or two to drip off any excess oil before using
them. The replacement K&N filter that goes inside the original airbox
is the best kind of air filter to use, the separate filters that clamp
onto the carburetors require rejetting for best performance and the
engine loses some mid range power without the air box...

Wash a green foam rubber air filter in kerosene and lightly oil it,
then squeeze the excess oil out of it before reinstalling it in the air
box. Oil will eventually rot a foam rubber air filter and you'll need
another one after 3 or 4 years...

On a paper element it is bad, it clogs it up real bad.

On any other filter it is the wrong kind of oil. You would
never guess it but what you want is Air Filter Oil, thin
stuff that sets and gets tacky and viscous.
