Ahhhh Lanesplitting

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by James Mayfield, Jun 22, 2004.

  1. IMHO
as a truck driver you don't care and concentrate on driving
as a car driver 4cyl jappers dont impact that much
rolling thunder from HD and Guzzi has an impact but bass is
unidirectional so causes some wobbling until you locate the sound source

the best experience i have had is on quiet bikes, then it is up to the
rider to get past 'em before they even know you are there, but
u'vegottawotchem for wobbles and unexpected lane changes eg. CBR600
commuting to work up the gateway arterial in Bris at 180+(no longer
    permitted)

and as a rider of HDwithopenpipes (no longer permitted) when the sound
is so loud and subconsciously connected with packs of raving lunatics
going to bash you for the slightest misdemenour...the driver remains
frozen in the one spot untill you are past

as for lanesplitting through slow moving <50 Kph traffic...bah what danger

  3. i find the 'wing is the same width alla way down...so if you can get the
fairing through, the rest will follow...and it's amazing where it will fit
those mirrors can be a problem tho!!
    splitting moving traffic is easier

I try, but it's difficult to follow the logic, or lack of it sometimes.

Let me see if I understand your point of view. You think loud pipes make you
more 'visible' but taping your horn button down doesn't make sense to you.
How about a set of airhorns or a siren then? That would make motorists more
    aware of your presence.

I'd rather be aware of them.

Yubs is quoting from a Boris puff-piece, for fuxache nev. Dignifying it
with a response is rather silly, even for a fuckwit :)

I don't like group rides, too many egos, not enough space.
OK. I lost track as to who was on which side of this arguement. Sorry if
    that made your veins pop.
I've got this great shovel. :)
Just you wait until the safety-nazis get into power. We had a guy who was a
bicycle group safety lobbyist/spokes person. (I had to change that "bicycle
spokes person" just didn't read right). Then the govt employed him in some
well-paying safety-nazi job. He's now argueing for FNP's on the basis that
people in cars have slowed down and the gov't is not making the 'speed
revenue' they budgeted for. He claims that FNP's would be worth $8M in
revenue. His dept income is directly related to speeding fines.

Cars going slower? Fancy that? I thought that was what the gov't wanted.
Guess what? Road deaths are up from last year.

    Cheers

James Mayfield is of the opinion:
No, we probably would have. I just wouldn't have a very bike-deprived wife,
as she could fang around on the two-fiddly while Kawasaki Australia finish
off and wipe themselves on the carpet. I'd also be happier about riding
into the city. Air-cooled bikes in the middle of Sydney suck.

  16. Sure you do. Is this where we all say, Yeah, Bloody Volvo driver (TM) and
talk about the wankers that drive them? ...and those bloody Mercs,
especially the ones with the tinted windows, NO2 bottles and Hartmans
    solution in them,
Sure, I don¹t believe you have touched them on a FH12, though. Bigger
mirrors on those LandCraps and Hyundai Excels.
I don¹t know. I'd need to have someone point a scatch on my car too. Is
that better or worse than snatch?

    Hammo
    Sadly, no longer Volvo FH12.
