Ah well, time to pack the bike away...

  1. ....for the summer.

Went out for my regular monday morning round trip of about 10 miles to
get the newspaper. HOT HOT HOT! Jeans, boots and paddock jacket and at
anything less than 100MPH it was too hot.

  3. Well, yes. Or both. I don't really do fast as such. Thing is, I do go out
on the bike in shorts and vest, but the bike itself gets so hot that my
poor legs fry. Also, dressed like that, the bugs really hurt at much
    above walking pace.

Go get a "chaqueta rejilla" (vented jacket). Check mototienda.com or
motogal.com (owned by es.charla.moteros friendly cunts) for some good deal.

I still wear a jacket and leather gloves, but I don't know for how long I
can keep it now that the typical Cretan summer seems to have finally
arrived. I got some sort of rash above both my wrists, I'm guessing it's
where the jacket's elastic band touches the almost constantly sweating skin.

I hope I will manage to enjoy riding through most of the summer without
having to switch to Greek-style riding gear (Shorts, t-shirt, flip flops and
the helmet carried under the elbow).

I'll insist: Mesh jackets. Spidi NL5 is great stuff.

Yesterday I rode in Valencia at 36 degrees (after eating two dishes of fully
fledged real paella) and could enjoy air through the NL5. Nevertheless, I
don't recommend the paella thing in summer (a 1.5 kg steak in the Basque
country before crossing the Pyrenees in autumn can be recommended, though).

I'm already considering something like that, but it looks unlikely that I'll
be able to buy it in time for this summer. Costs almost as much as a badly
needed set of new tyres and more than my proper jacket. Good to have a
specific recommendation though, I'll have a look around..
Oh I wish (the Pyrenees/steak combi that is, not the paella in the heat). I
don't see myself taking the bike out of Crete this summer though, let alone
cross half the continent on it. I'm too green anyway, I should get a couple
of regional trips under my belt first.

Completely OT, but didn't spot a relevant thread: Congrats on the Euro Cup,
well deserved, even though I was supporting "ze Gehrmuns for personal
    reasons.
