I need a change of focus away from BASTARD Kawasaki's so here goes:

I seem to remember hearing something about Q plates no longer being issued
for machines of dubious origin, the reason I ask is I am considering putting
an old(ish) Crosser on the road, and I really do not want a Q plate. The
issue is it is an Armstrong (CCM in a former guise) and getting information
on it is problematical, so getting it dated would be a pain, unless CCM
suddenly decide to wake up and help.

Does anyone have experiance of such a problem or any advice (nice please!)

    TIA

You could try visiting your local license office? I am near Shrewsbury (my
    local office)
so when I needed to know about bringing a car back from Germany, I phoned
    up,
arranged to see the man who knew, went round, pleaded total ignorance and
    got
enough information that it was simple. I turned up in the office six weeks
    later and knew
more than the school leaver manning the front desk!
Dropping the name of 'the man' into the conversation also proved that I too
    was someone who knew!

Some offices are more sympathetic than others.

Good idea, I will do that.

I was reading the MOT regs today, basically you just need to turn up on the
day with 'e' marked tyres, fairly straight rims, a horn, brake light,
reflector and a silencer that is not too offensive and you have complied
with the legal daylight requirements, you do not even need a speedo, it does
not even look like you need a chainguard, so if I can just get that age
related plate I will be very happy
