Yeah, but the Bear was very fond of dishing it out and couldn't take it
    when it came back.

Why does this etiquette exist at all? I mean, in Bears[1] case it
wasn't as if he particularly tried to hide his real name. Ukrm seems
    particularly sensitive on this topic.

[1] I use the psudonym for the benefit of the conversation.

When did she start? The sociology stuff, I mean.

Personally, I don't take kindly to being libelled, simply because I point
out that being 'a feminist' requires a little more than a woman's having
her own payslip at the end of the month. 'pedophilia' is the 'in retort'
on Usenet of late. One because it evokes strong emotions in the public and
media, sensitive as they are to the hysteria surrounding child abuse, and
two, because it's an accusation that is almost impossible to disprove.
When the victim is a schoolteacher, it generally means the end of that
    person's career.

She tried to do that, and the hypocritical fuckwits on here stood on the
    sidelines and clapped.

Anyway, I pointed out to the group what a vindictive little tart she was,
and I've now been proved right. Like I say: _again_.

I've had beers with Bear. He was civilised, literate, polite,
inclusive, considerate, generous and funny. Of course, I have to
concede that he might well have been having a rare 'off' day, but you
have to take as you find ...

Yep. When I lived in France during a time when he'd (for whatever reason)
lost Usenet access, I e-mailed him privately and offered him a no-strings
account on my FreeBSD box, which at that time was running leafnode.

His response was to gloat here on UKRM that 'the ****'s sending me e-mails
    now'.

He truly is a venomous individual.

He hated most UKRM females didn't he? The last one he fell out with was
    Adie iirc.

I've never met the guy, but by all accounts he's thoroughly good
company irl. He was just a bit of a nasty hypocritical **** on UKRM at
    times, for whatever reason.

You haven't made attempts to hide your identity. Bear has, and
regularly got pissy when people used his real name here.

If I'm wrong about this, well it's not going to be the last time.

In fact he hates his name and gets po faced if people use it in real life.
It seems the smallest of things and one would think an intelligent man would
dwell on it briefly and cast out the demon. I expect he has to use it when
    working, after all.

Well I expect the issue is he has multiple personalities, or is
manic-depressive, or an awful drunk, (1) or something. He has indeed been
good company IRL, he has also been a right royal PITA. And although Colin
says there are bigger cunts on UKRM that may be true online but I'm
struggling to think of more than one other who has been variable IRL. And I
don't mean WC, pissing in the flowers may be bad form but even pissed he's
    perfectly amiable.

    (1) and therefor perfectly normal by NG standards
