According the Bike magazine, the R1 is most comfotable and easiest to
ride on the road. They didn't mention anything about sliding the back
    around bends though.

I've owned all three [1] and the Gixxer is the best.
Pah, I'll see your 5'9" and lower you 5".

    Couldn't say because I haven't ridden a 10R but I don't think any of
these bikes a really comfortable. I've noticed the Thou is harder on
my wrists than the 750 was. Maybe, like the cornering, it's because
I've been off for a while.

It's all relative and IME complete tosh. The 600 has plenty of go from
almost any revs - yes not as much as a 1000, but more then enough.

I never worry about what gear I'm in on the 600 <shrug>

I agree. Your Gixer6 didn't feel much (any?) faster than the SV when
you let me borrow it at the Englands Rose.

And this, young Bokker, is why you're feeling slow. Elly was a bit
like this until she was enlightened - now she makes positive efforts
to keep the CBR in the powerband *all* the time - she never has to
drop down a gear when she wants to pass traffic, for example. Follow
her and you'll see what I mean - the Akropovic is howling all the time
because she has 8 or 9K rpm on the engine. That way, a quick twist
    .... and she's gone.

Yes, a modern 600 has loads of power, and a considerable amount of
torque compared to engines of the previous generations - it may not be
_as_ peaky as it once was, but the 600 still has a definite powerband
    - and you *must* be in it if you want to make progress. Dance on the
gearshift my son, and you will be rewarded.

I remember discovering this on my Bandit. When I first got it I kept
changing gear at about 6,000 rpm.

Trying to keep up with someone on a Gilera 550 one time, I discovered
that it *really* accelerated if you kept the throttle open to 8,000 rpm.

Trying to keep up with a Blade I found out that it **Really**
accelerated well if you kept it open past 10,0000 rpm.

Oh, and you could come out of corners much better if you kept the revs
    over 6,000.

Those were the days, steep learning curves and big smiles.

From the point of view of owning two bikes that produce roughly the
same amount of torque (despite the power difference) you're
questioning my riding experience on 4 very different bikes all with
increasing amounts of torque? Dan, come on. I know what I'm talking
    about.
    Maybe you should.

    Exactly.

The Wing is piss easy to ride, cos gear/speed almost irrelevant. Okay,
progress may (will) be slow, but it's relaxed. Which is good, cos
that's what it's supposed to be.

The Blackbird, whilst quite a torquey old lump, still needs to have
the box stirred a bit if one wants to make more spirited progress. One
could, of course, just leave it in 3rd, and cover all eventualities
from 0-135mph, but the fuel consumption would be dreadful, and the
noise more than a little wearing after a while.

The KH500, by comparison, simply *stops* if you try to accelerate in
the wrong gear. Nothing happens. At all. Until you knock it down a
couple, whereupon it regains some degree of urgency.

The TS250 simply doesn't accelerate, even if you are in the right
    gear.
    Unmitigated cobblers.
    More. Fool. You. Sunshine.
