Advice please on my next bike

Hi Im new to these news groups things so bear with me lol
I am Jim, a 24 year old male englishman, i have been banned twice in the
last 7 years.

I get my licence back in june and am planningto do my direct access
(allowing me to ride any bike). but am unsure of what to get as regards to
insurance prices.

I have had bikes all my life but only ever had an ETZ 125 on the road when i
was 17.

WOW -- that's a LOT -- for what? speeding? In that case, I'd get something
smallish to help you with speeding -- you'll kill yourself ona bigger bike.
I have a 750, but I have a LOT of fun on my friends 400, you really use the full
range of power on a smaller bike; which helps you have fun.

Avoid sports bikes, avoid larger displacements.

You've had bikes for 24 years? I had to wait until I was 16 & could afford my
own..

I suggest a mountain bike.

Seriously - we need more info:

Are you riding dirt? street? track days? what's the largest bike you've owned?
what is your preference for style? Make ?
