    I've a VFR800 FiW (1998) with about 7k miles on the clock. It's got a
street legal Remus can (as fitted by RS performance to all of the 50th
anniversary VFR's in 1998) but otherwise bog standard.

Having a little difficulty in keeping up with my loony mates (Aprillia
MilleR, Suzy TL1000R with Maxton conversion & Kwacker 900)

I don't want to sell the bike as it's still a better long-haul tourer, but
do want a little more juice, especially .

What's the best route for an additional 10 to 20 BHP?

    Anyone tried the Dynojet Commander?

What about exhausts? What's the good & bad?

    Tony.

ITYF you _do_ want to sell up and replace it with a gixxer thou, which
is actually a better long-haul tourer, IME, and you'll certainly have
no excuse for not blitzing all your mates on it.

Aye - or pick slower opposition on more comparable machinery. Wales
would be a good place to start looking.

Forget the bike. It's most likely the rider that needs modification.
Have a look for dwb's post on rider training and get yourself signed
    up on Corden's course.

He may have done 14,000 going forward and then 7000 rolling backwards. He
may have only obtained it last week after a particularly long wait for
    delivery. There's loads of possibilities.

I'm puzzled at how he's only managed to clock up 7k miles on a 6 year
old VFR. I did more than that last year.

That's an easy question to answer, he's not ridden it more than 7000
    miles in 6 years.

    C'mon man, ask something difficult.

Piece of piss in six years. Its only 3 point something miles a day.

Nonsense, the VFR doesn't have reverse, and there's no way he'd push it
    that far.

Why not? He'd only be dropping his average speed a small fraction.

  15. Sell it and buy something else.

Seriously - the VFR is horrendously expensive to tweak. It can be done,
    but you're talking HRC money.

Blocks integral with crankcases, so rebores mean a total engine strip,
four camshafts so new cams cost twice as much as for an in-line four,
    etc etc.

See if anyone does a decent aftermarket chip, but otherwise forget it.
