Heh. Just down the road, then. We're in Caerphilly / Blackwood-ish area.

    Was in Chepstow yesterday morning.

We're landing in Calais on the Sat and want to get to Jerez by Thursday
for the Moto GP weekend, enjoy the GP, and head back Monday to Calais
for following Friday. Taking our time (as much as we can) and
    definately not on major motorways.
Want to enjoy the ride down through both countries if poss.

I thought you guys weren't too far away. Some rather nice roads into
    Wales :)
    Bit breezy yesterday wasn't it.

You're right on the doorstep of the run up to Monmouth - usually a nice
run, but it was mostly flooded yesterday.
Just a tad - although not quite as bad as it was in Aberystwyth on
    Tuesday.

It takes me 7 hours to just get the 450 (via my route) miles to Limoges
from Calais using a fair amount of autoroute in the car. OK so I rarely
cruise much above the speed limit +15KPH (after chatting to the VCF
lot), but I don't stop much either.
Anybody's guess these days. By late March it can be quite pleasant once
south of the Loire, but I have known snow in early April at just 1500
feet (for a track day - lovely).

I know, I've been there (went to uni with a bloke from Pontllanfraith).
Is the order of the banks on the high street still the same? And the
    shit Somerfield?

Dunno about the banks. The Somerfield was sold to Kwik Save in October.
So it'll be even more shit now.

**** off. Leicester. The proper one, not the poly.

Dropped out twice, mind. But it's the principle of the thing.

Check the track listing on Generation Terrorists. Easy to compare.
The Asda up the road was alright. For an Asda.

Heh. Don't have that album - but checked it on Amazon.
Aye, it's OK. The one in Merthyr is better. But I try not to shop there,
    'cos it's an Asda.

I do, aye. We're looking at different routes that maybe make a bit of
progress where possible, but its basically a get on the bike, aim for a
direction & ride all day. Stop when needed & sleep.
Yea, I'm not over fussed about the cold - got good gear & heated grips
(yes I know, but they're worth every snide comment!). I keep riding
throughout the year anyway & unless its snowing its not a bother.
Himself has ridden into Europe a few times now at this time of year,
and he's quite happy to do it.

Bugger all wrong with heated grips. I have them on the Bandit because
its my winter hack. There's no point in having cold hands if you can do
    something about it.

I might even fit some to the Daytona for those colder but dry evenings
when it's nice to ride but don't want to pull on really heavy gloves.

That's what I like about heated grips. Lately, being a wuss I haven't gone
for a ride it's cold. However, in the spring/autumn when returning home
after a ride it's nice to be able to flick a switch to remain comfortable
rather than stop to change gloves. I just don't like the feel of thick
    gloves.

Same applies at altitude in the summer. Coming over the Petit St Bernard at
2188m, just after it opened in late June, the temperature at the top was
-2C so having heated grips was a bonus.
