    That's called a "woman's jacket"...in case you're wondering what to call it.

When I bought my Joe Rocket jacket, the only black one they had was my size
and all. I got up to the counter and then got a good look at it. It turned
out it was a woman's jacket. Everyone in the shop began telling me that it
wasn't and that there wasn't any difference. Finally, Mike's wife (the
owner's wife) came out and heard the confusion going on) she took one look
at it and agreed with me. She then showed them that even the cut in the
waist was different. Since that was the only black one, I had to go with a
    silver instead.

Anytime the zipper zips from the wrong side, it's a woman's. They build it
that way from the old days when hand maidens used to dress the women. They
would face the woman and need the zipper (or buttons) on the same side as
    them...not backwards.

"Technology wise", the only thing the two are similar with is they have two
    wheels and grips.

Have you ever seen a motorcycle before?

I guess it must've been more of that "memory block" thing you've got going.

Speaking of McDonalds and food, I just watched Super Size Me (the movie) and
they said Houston is like the top city of fattest people in America....is
    this true?

Johnny, you're in Houston...aren't you? Were you there when the survey was
    taken?

STEVE, I have only purchased one new Motorcycle in over 30 years. I
    bought a 74/?)GoldWing GL 1000, brand ass newie. Since , I have
purchased 10 Bikes of various sizes. I like buying from individuals.
Usually those folks are desperate to get rid of the motorcycle, and
usually because they're having difficulty making the payents.

One can pick up a nice Bike, with lots of stuff, and generally, one
saves 20/25%. One nice asset ,IS,there's none, if any, sales tax,
involved. (as far as I am concerned, grin) My last one, 7 months ago, the
indidvidual, said I could put any price, on the ''Bill Of Sale''.. I got
him to write it out as a '' so-in-so, Bike for sale, AS IS''. Say,
$1000. (but the bike's worth much more)- How much is sales Tax, 8.5%(?)-
Them Dealers gotta charge the proper Sales Tax,+ this tax and thaten'.

The AS IS, is the important ''key''. Because, the thing could be
wrecked, and blah, blah blah! I've never gotten a questionable look,
    when I register stuff..

Where to find these Bikes? In my newspapers, the thrifty nickel. Heck,
there's several in there at this moment.

One more GREAT asset, in buying a Used Bike, the resale of it. One can
sale and get a high percent of the money back.
I've even made a $100 over what I paid for them. (can't beat that!)
But, a new one, you loose driving it around the area, in a matter of
    weeks.

    I just thought, my son-n-law has a 03 Honda 1100, very low milage, $550
Pipes, and stuff, for sale in the Forney area by Dallas, and Terrel. He
went and bought him one of them big old expensive Harleys. Presently, he
has around 31,000 in motorcyles. I tell em' all time, I am in awe of
him, that I have never, known anyone, to have 31,000 invested in
    Motorcycles. (smile) bjay

First - define the style of bike you want to ride.. That would be very
    helpful.

    First thoughts:
A mid 80s Magna V65. For $2500-3k you could aquire one in simply
    excellent shape.
A Kawasaki Concours... Again, in the same price range, you could pick
one up in great shape. I'd buy post 1991 or so - I don't remember off
hand but the one upgrade they did was improve the brakes.

There are a variety of cruisers that would fit your needs.. I'm not as
familiar with them, but I'd be looking for at least 1100cc if you've
adapted to the power of that KZ.

Want to pay a premium? Go to a dealer.. I wouldn't touch an
"independent" dealer - I've seen too many of them buying bikes at
auction and selling them without knowing anything about the condition.

I'd be willing to travel to Austin or Houston if you have to for the
right bike. You can buy bikes that are 20 years old that look like
they came off the factory floor...

    Sure!

I would've guessed it was somewhere around central Texas. It looks like it
    would be worth the trip.

I have an old version of Streets (I think it's 2000). Right now, I'm using
Mapopolis for my maps in my Ipaq. I have maps of everything in Texas loaded
so I can get directions or routes while I'm on the road. It worked great
until I was in Austin this past week. I pulled into the wrong Red Roof Inn
and checked the Ipaq to see where I was at and where I needed to go. I sat
it down on the saddlebag to get my jacket adjusted when it slid off and
smacked the concrete. It didn't hurt the Ipaq other than breaking the spring
that holds the stylus. Luckily, I had just put it back in the carrying case
right before it fell. I guess I need to find someplace to take it and get
fixed. I don't have any clue where to go and check....do you? Being an HP,
there's not too many places around that I can think of that won't ship it
out and take weeks to get back.
I don't know why, but it seems women's jackets are more inexpensive than the
men's counterparts. I've never figured that out. At times, it takes more
stylish cuts and work to assemble the women's, with all the tapering and
    change in the zipper.

I've went into shops before and saw some GREAT price on a jacket or shirt
    and it turns out it's a woman's.

Still, $40 for that jacket is still a good price!

    (Brian Walker)
So, it was more than $250 for the items you originally listed. Still, it
sounds like you got some great deals on some high-quality gear.
Scott GardnerNot everybody has to buy Vansons (my jacket and armor cost $700!),
You paid $700 for a jacket and "armor"? Yeah, right! Sure you did!but
expect to pay a couple $100 for each decent piece.

A couple hundred dollars for "each piece"? I can pay less than $100 for
a good jacket...either leather or fabric. I can pay $100 for a good
    helmet.
      Pants, jacket,
boots, etc. add up.Together, it'll add up....but not anywhere close to what you're
    claiming.
    ---------------------------------------------------- Brian really wanted
to emphasize the above, so he did us a double take.
by george, that should make it crystal clear.
I do agree, (I think)! But I do wonder if they fellow who posted this,
will buy some of the ''attire'' ya'll are discussing, after he buys a
nice used Motorcycle, from sum individual.

Well, the movie said there were like 80 something McDonalds on in Manhattan
alone. That's 80 something in just several square miles.

It would seem those folks in New York should really be number 1 in the world
if it was based on number of McDonalds....

Oh MY! Here we go with the "track days" and the "race in dirt"...AGAIN!

I haven't known many KZ1300s to race in dirt OR do a track day. If your only
reference to motorcycles is this, then it's understandable to all of us why
you can't see how stupid your comparison is to the Suzuki Bandit. I don't
believe you can top your stupid remarks about having a Valkarie on a track
    for "track day".

So far, this makes three motorcycles you've claimed knowledge about. When
called on it, you start screaming "track days" or "race in dirt". As it
turns out, none of the bikes you've claimed to know about could even get in
the dirt (at least not deliberately by the owner) or do "track day".

I don't believe this guy who was asking the question ever said he used his
KZ1300 to race in the dirt. Most of the KZ1300s I've ever known were 4
stroke...among other things....and two stroke has been the motor of choice
in the dirt. Of course, with your "expertise" in "dirt" you'd know this,
right? I also believe the KZ1300 would be slightly too big and
bulky....among other things....to get on a track and race. Of course, with
your "expertise" in "track days", you'd know this too, right?

If you have "experience" with riding KZ1300 motorcycles in dirt or on track
days, I want you to show pictures to prove it. I don't believe it and
neither does anyone else who's ever been around motorcycles. For that
matter, provide pictures of a Suzuki Bandit 1200 racing in dirt. You're the
one with "experience", it shouldn't be too tough for a nimble little queer
fellow like you to do! After all, you're the great "texgays" who's known
    worldwide from r.m.h. to tx.moto.
