I've decided it's about time to get my bike licence and am looking for
    advice.

From what I've read I can go and do the test in a day and then I am limited
to the size of bike I can ride for a while.

I want a bike with some off-road ability to do a few green lanes and for
some road use. I'm a 6'2" fat bastard so need something that will fit me.

Any advice gratefully received including where to get some leathers from.

    Cheers!

http://www.ukrm.net/faq/ukrmfaq1.html is a sensible place to start
You don't want to do this. See below
If you do a single day, you'll be limited to a 12 hp (IIRC) 125cc
bike. While they can be much fun, they are seriously compromised by
the addition of a Fat Bastard (TM)

Do the DAS and get something with more poke. Much more fun as well
    IMHO
    Over to you, Lozzo :)

Thanks for that - I started dividing 12hp by my big ass and came up with not
much - thought I'd be pushing it up hills.
    Cheers.
