Wot, no pix of inverted Drifters?
God, I'm looking forward to this. Already.

All you lot who think that it's just a weekend for a load of old farts
to drool over, and witter on about, antique machinery - think again.
The racing is brilliant, the atmosphere fantastic, the weather (so far)
hot and sunny, the chips beyond compare, the ice-cold beer plentiful
and strong, and the whole craic is just in a class of its own.

This year there were... how many bikes racing? 400? 500? I remember the
    250/350cc two-stroke races: there were 40-50 bikes on the grid. I can't
remember when I last saw so many strokers in one place. The plume of
    smoke rivalled Buncefield.

And all for something silly like a tenner for the entire weekend. Shit,
one day at a BSB race meeting is more than double that.

I'll take the XS650 next year. Or maybe the 400 Four....

I couldn't go out in public wearing tight jeans for days.

Add to that the fact that you are *so* close to the bikes when they
take off, you are close to them (possibly, but I've not done the entire
circuit) all the way round, unlike the over-priced and
    over-safety-nazi-ed circuits in the UK.

If you remember the way it used to be watching the racing years ago,
this is a must-do to regain the feeling you got when they set off.

If you're too young to remember the way it used to be, it's a must-do
in order to discover just what you have missed out on. Even the TT has
been changed so much over the years to protect the spectators in case
of an incident during racing that it's becoming clinical.

    Heh heh!

You'd struggle to do that now even at the TT. I've got some cracking
pics taken in the early 90's from the Creg. At the same location now
it would be impossible as the 'safety netting' would ruin them somewhat.

I thought they indicated 'token gesture'. Or 'buggered photos'. One or
    t'other, anyway.
