AD: Group TT Accommodation

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Julian Ashcroft, Dec 31, 2003.

  1. I hope I don't offend anyone by placing what is a blatant advert in this
    group, but here goes.

My Scout Group located in Onchan, Isle of Man, has a large modern Scout Hall
available for hire by a group during TT Week 2004. The Hall is available
from Friday 4. June to Saturday 12. June 2004.

Accommodation comprises of a large hall (15 x 10 metres). Large modern
kitchen with cooking facilities and cold drinks machine. Carpeted Meeting
Room with TV & Video. Male and Female Toilets. We also have a good sized
store room large enough to fit around eight bikes. This store is accessed
through an electrically operated roller shutter door and gives secure indoor
bike storage. The hall has warm air heating.

There is no bedding provided so anyone staying overnight has to provide
their own bedding, such as sleeping bags and airbeds.

The hall as said above is located in Onchan, outside the course. Local Shops
and Pubs are just five minutes walk away. The course is easily accessible
within a few minutes ride. You can find photos of the hall at
    www.2ndonchan.net

We are looking to rent the hall out to a group of bikers for the above
period for the quite reasonable cost of £50.00 per person for the period.
The Hall will easily accommodate 20 - 30 persons. There will be a returnable
security deposit of £300.00 required. The minimum group size we will accept
    is 10.

If anyone is interested in chatting about the hall, please reply to this
post directly to me and include your telephone number so I can contact you.

It's not such a bad idea, particularly if each UKRM'r gets a cub scout to
    fag for him.

Add £50 for accomodation and a few quid for beer, food and stuff and the TT
could be done for around £300 or so.

    Is that feasible?

    Robbo says...
It is, notwithstanding your spends though. It is advisable at this
point in time to wait until the deadline of 28th Feb for balance of
advance bookings to have been paid. Usually around the 2nd week in
March is a good time to call them in order to secure more options
    regarding location and times.

    Thanks Lesley,
I checked this online a short while ago, but worth waiting if the offer
    still stands from the guy.
Would be good to go to the TT.

If the profits are going to the Scout group, then I have no problem with
that. Sounds like a good deal, actually.

You're only peeved 'cos you didn't win !

Anyway, TOG is far better at this sort of logistical excercise.

    At the BOSM.

He sold a few dozen tickets, then decided to put all the stubs from the
tickets he'd sold, plus a few hundred others into the actual draw.

It then took about 40 minutes to draw 3 valid tickets over about 20
attempts, after each draw he wandered aimlessly round the pub asking
everyone if they were that number.

Yes, all profits to the Group. We rent the hall out on a regular basis, when
we aren't using it and it produces much needed income for the Group.
