Riding to work this moorning outbound there was a huge mess of traffic.
Having negotiated the worst of it the cause was due to rubbernecking an
accident between a car and bike on the inbound side.
The car's driver side was all dented and further back was a fallen cbr250.
Further back again were ambo's and fire brigade personnel.
On the road was the rider lying on his back but seemingly alive as the
    ambo's were talking to him.
He still had his helmet on and was clothed in blue dririder jacket and
    black pants.
I don't know the details and to avoid a roasting by Martin Taylor I
won't hesitate a guess as to what happened.
After passing this scene I rode into work in a rather subdued state.
I hope the rider was ok.
    Anyone know anymore?

saw the same Smee.....coming from the other direction....sounds like
the A typical "I didn't see you " type of thing

and here I was lanespilting through the banked up traffic think how
good is this riding to work thing is and came across that.....BTW he
had the helmet and jacket off when I rode past him and seemed to be
    communicating

It must have happened just after I came through, I passed through city
bound at about 7:15am, Heard it called on the radio at about 7:30am.

What bike do you ride Marty? I see a red VFR going the other way along
there at about that time almost every morning.

Now that I know the rider is ok, smee, let's play a game called "maybe I
should have said 'hazard a guess' ".

And how come you've let nev get away with apostrophes in his recent
    possessive "it's"?

Ah, well im glad that it is your problem, not mine ;-) (i deliberately avoided the it's/its conundrum there, simply cause it all
confuses shit out of me.. And here i am dating someone that's (did i get it right, did i, did i???) at uni to get her degree in
    teaching, ENGLISH at that!)

Like a speed camera is gonna stop an accident like that, but maybe the bike
rider or car involved will get a useless fine in the mail a month later.
Hell they could be dead by then...

Thanks for the concern, mate, I'm quite ok :) My thoughts are with the
fellow who went down though... Having just switched back to the stock pipe
from one without any baffles at all, I noticed that cars aren't as aware of
my being there anymore - I guess that the combination of that & smallness
making for some extra easy lanesplitting, we're the ones who must remain
    forever vigilant.

Mine is a blue and orange one and I'm in all black leathers & white helmet.
Have just returned from a two day trip to the Great Ocean Road with two
Norwegian mates who hired a 99 600f and a Duke Monster (900). We took it
easy, using the vanishing point principle of adjusting speed, especially
through the forest bit and having followed a 4wd for some time driven by
some asian tourists who thought the two white lines were where the middle of
the car was supposed to be.

The duke monster is one thirsty italian. Combined with faulty low fuel
light, it made for an interesting experience to try & locate the owner of a
gas station 40Ks out of Warrnabool because we were just a bit too late in
getting there. I had engine problems in the beginning of the day having
switched to the reserve inlet, the engine not quite liking what it found
    there.

Must comment on the Monster: What amazing low end torque and fantastic
rideability. And the note, oh, the sweet note of that whole bike. If it
wasn't for the rather shocking fuel economy and the fact that I want to do
some track days every once in a while I'd be seriously contemplating it
instead of the R6 for next year. The riding style is perfect for everything
else. A VTR250 will definitely have to be the next step up for my Derby
Atlantis 100cc L-plater partner, once she gets tired of that.

My friends were very very impressed with the ride and thought it all
amazing. They'll be filing for VISAs soon I think. Oh, and no surprise - on
a day last week when I was working I gave them a list of things to do in the
CBD, Elisabeth street being top on the list. For some reason they never got
    to item #2. :)

    Now to return to work...

    Cheers,
    Jørgen
