I was Northbound on the M6 at about mid day, near Leyland.
The traffic all came to an abrupt standstill, and beyond the front of the
queue was a biker on his back with bike about 100yrds further on.

Needless to say I hope he is well, my stomach did a roll as I eventually
    passed him.

What also struck me was that only lane 1 was useable and people's main
priority seemed to be the first past while trying their best not to let cars
from lanes 2 and 3 in front of them, how terribly British.

So are you planning to ride differently from now on?

I ride a car, I am planning to ride exactly the same.

I have been half determined to get a bike for years, stuff like this puts me
    off.

    FFS, bikes are dangerous.
So is crossing the road on foot.

    Why the FFS?

Broken limbs, pain and potential death put me off getting a bike.

I never unnecessarily cross roads either.

Having a shit as well. Quite a few people pop their clogs trying to
    squeeze one out.

Seeing the aftermath of a bike crash usually sobers my riding style
    for at least 5 minutes.

    Err OK.
I never said it didn't, I said it was a sobering sight.

Fair point, I smoke, drink, overeat and take too little exercise.

Maybe when I am spark out it will put somebody off doing similar, it may be
    a sobering sight.
I never meant to cause offence.

Well it isn't - at least not to those with bikes, it would seem.

Indeed. My neighbour in London popped his clogs on the bog.

  16. But they don't put you off getting in a car?

I know more people that have died in non-bike related ways than I do
that have died while riding. I would guess this goes for most people.

I saw something today that really put me off being a squirrel. But
hey, we take these risks not to escape life but to prevent life
    escaping us.
