(The Older Gentleman) banged this out
    ROFL!

Apparently, the way to go is to whack a cable tie over the switch,
    rather than start disconnecting stuff.

Heh, I actually went out and bought a Ducati sidestand bypass mod for my
ST4s to allow me to start the bike on the sidestand. Kills the motor if
gear is engaged with the sidestand down, "like any other bike" !

    One of these

  4. "Constructed using OEM plugs/sockets used by Ducati"

That would put me right off, for a start....

Double heh, just means it's simply plugs in, no messing around cutting
wires. If it fails unplug and reseat the original plugs and sockets.

Wait - are you saying that this switch cuts out the ignition, even when
    the bike is in neutral?

I dunno about the sparks, but it definitely cuts the fuel supply (the
familiar K fizzing noise from the fuel pump stops). And yes, it does
it in neutral, so you can't run the bike up on the sidestand.

"TOG@Toil" <> banged this out on the
    bongos:

It's a right PITA, when I visit my mum, because I have to get off and
open a gate, then ride up the drive. What a fecking palaver.

Cable tie being applied as soon as tuits are obtained.

Keryst, what a crap idea. Don't they want you to warm the engine up
before riding off, or is one supposed to sit on the thing, picking one's
    nose.

    Those crazy Germans!

What's next, a sports bike that can beat R1s and Gixxers?

It must only happen on the newer ones because I had no such problem on
    my manky old 8 valver.
