.... for attendees for the ukrm Northerner's thing.

Saturday 3rd March, Newcastle upon Tyne. I'm going to try to book the
table tomorrow, so I need to have the numbers.

If you're coming, make sure you've let me know. And if you're bringing a
partner, you need to tell me about that, too; despite my elite DFV-ing
    skills, I'm not psychic.

The meal will probably be tapas, because that's easiest to suit all the
fussy buggers (and Mrs Eddie's special dietary requirements)[0], but it
might depend where we can get a table for 18+ plus people at two weeks'
    notice. =8-O

    [0] i.e. if you don't like a particular dish, don't eat it; there'll be
plenty of other choices. If you're still hungry afterwards (I never have
been, and that's saying something), there are plenty of kebab shops
    round the corner.

    You most certainly are.

I suspect I might have to pay a deposit to make a booking of this size,
so I want to be as certain about the numbers as possible.

  4. No, I've changed my mind. I'm not going to say anything.

Come on, out with it. Some rant about it not being proper tapas, or
tapas not technically being a meal?

I had tapas again in Harrogate last week. I *like* Tapas.
Not so sure about Sangria though. Stick with the Rioja.

  7. We did it to death recently where it was decided that I, as the only
resident of Spain posting here, don't have a fucking clue.

By the way, "tapas" is plural.

  9. None of my business really. Apparently we here (in Andalucía) now have a
"national reality" or some such nonsense. Bloody estatutos. What a load
of nonsense. The catalán "estatut" is now in danger of being dumped
because of some stuff that I won't go into and the turnout for the
referendum here was 37%. I couldn't vote being a furriner an' all, but
I'm probably the only resident here that actually read the document.

  10. <snort> If it's properly done, it can be rather pleasant - with a reasonable
red, I mean. Have you had the one made with triple sec and cava? Very fine,
    that.

  11. Quite a sweeping statement considering a tapa can be absolutely
*anything* from sausages to dead beetles.
Sangría here is usually made with the cheapest plonk available. It's
about 50c a litre. Sangría in it's simplest form is "tinto de verano"
and is aforementioned battery acid mixed with lemonade. Very popular
with the brits. Of course they call it "tinto veraRno". Nobody knows
what they're on about - well, perhaps like "coffee con lehchee" it will
    be the new name.

  12. I only drink Rioja generally, and I wouldn't want to drown it with
Pomagne (sp). I'm no expert mind, the Rioja I buy is around 2 euros a
bottle. I sometimes splash out 5 on a posh bottle.

  13. Nice bait. :) Seriosuly, this white sangria is *only* triple sec and cava,
with the obligatory fruit. Great on a hot day.
Have you tried the Penedes reds? Rather good.

A red that costs 2 EUR in Lidl Spain costs 3.5 quid in Lidl UK, mind.

For the Penedesisti, the guys of Torres plan to open a taste shop
("degustacion") of their wines in Passeig de Gracia, BCN.

And coming soon at the BCN trade fair...

  16. Sshh! I've almost received death threats for mentioning that in the
past. Especially when I respond to posts like "Quick, get down to <some
shop or other>, they're doing <some cheap plonk or other> at only 5 quid
    a bottle this week!".
