The time had come. My bike was running and my friend wanted it moved from
her house. It was dry and not too cold so what was I waiting for? Nerves, I
had nerves because I hadn't ridden since July and then it was only to move
the bike from one friend's house to another. It was April 2005 when I last
rode properly and then it hurt like hell. Since then I have lost a lot of
weight and my Gixxer was about 120Kg heavier than my 58Kg and it felt really
heavy as I was pushing it out on to the road. I put my leathers, helmet and
gloves on then started the bike. It fired first time and then gently threw
my leg over and stretched one toe to the ground. Into first, clutch out and
    I was away.

This is now very strange, it felt like I had never been off the bike,
everything came back to me and I was comfortably moving around the bike and
forgot all my concerns. I wonder if anyone else had the same experience
after a lay off? Two hours later I was back home with a huge grin on my
face. I had thought it would take some time to get back into the saddle, so
to speak but it didn't. Don't get me wrong, I'm very rusty and not that
fluid on the bike it will take a few more sessions. No, pain [1], no blood,
no wheelies and no kneedown [2]. All-in-all quite sensible.

I cannot tell you how good it is to be back on the bike. I had dreamt about
this day for a very long time.

    [1] Well just a bit.

[2] Just a little scrape to test how mobile I was [3]. ;)

    [3] Not very

Excellent! Glad to hear it all went well. You know where I am if you
    want a slowish rideout! :)

This is now very strange, it felt like I had never been off the bike,
Well done. Hopefully this may be the year when I can get a bike that I
can ride on a regular basis (see my recent post "Bike Dreaming"). I
used to ride scooters in all weathers but now I'm a very fair weather
classic bike rider.. I hope that one day I can have a "proper" bike
that I can ride regularly, I haven't even ridden my beloved classic
    since September. :-(

It really did feel good, I may even give my bike it's first wash for about
18 months. The chain looked bad but after a spray of WD40 and a quick rub
over with an oily rag two nights before I took it out. Then a spray with
chain wax the night before, it came up like new.

My head was a bit sore and I was aching a bit during a gig last night but
    otherwise it was fine.

You're right, it all clicked into place, except the weight. I was fine when
riding but manoeuvring on foot was rather awkward and very un-lady-like. I
just cannot reach the ground without getting my bum off the seat.
I suppose that if it's in your blood it's there to stay.

    Doesn't biking rock.
