    Comfort, build quality and reduced weight ARE reasons to choose one helmet over another, higher cost isn't!!
    (And it's a basic reason to NOT choose that helmet).

    People with $1000 heads are welcome to spend that on a helmet; just don't
    come here skiting about how you're 10 times safer than me, with the $100
    helmet.

    *My* head is worth a lot more than $1000 to me, since I can use it to keep
    out of trouble, then it won't matter what helmet I have.
