    A1 closes for safety works
Diversions put in place to deal with disruption
A section of the A1 will be closed off for three nights from today
(Monday, March 21) as new speed cameras are installed.

The Highways Agency is closing the southbound stretch of the dual
carriageway between Sandy and Biggleswade between the hours of 8pm and
    6am.

Existing speed cameras are being replaced with new GATSO cameras, said
to be more suited to roads like the A1.

The northbound carriageway will be reduced to 40mph during the work.

Jamie Endersby, Highways Agency project manager, said: "This stretch of
the road had a very poor accident record in the past and there is a need
    for cameras on both carriageways."

Drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journey. Diversions
will be in place from the A421 road westbound to the A6 then on to the
A507 eastbound and rejoin the A1 at Stotfold.

Cue some government statistic about how 'night time accidents were down by
90% on the three days before the cameras were even fully operational'.

I thought clusterfuck could only be applied to an event, rather than a
    group of people?
