WTF they look orrible.... I presume that they are..
Never heard of them, are they are any relation of the Urinals that did the
    rounds in the 70's?

Strange way of advertising them.as well. This could be a unique
opporchancity for a really S SOB.

Different factory and even shiter, I believe. Russian domestic market
    only...
The fact that the seller has the decimal point in the wrong place *and*
a reserve on it doesn't bode well.

  3. One was tested by Bike in the 1970s, and the roadtest has enetered into
legend. "I hate the Voskhod so much it's hard to say anything...", or
    similar, was one sentence.

In short, utterly shite, nasty engine, lousy quality, utterly
ineffectual brakes (even by 1970s standards), avoid, avoid, avoid.

I remember that one! Tested against the CZ 175 and possibly some Cossack
abortion. The CZ was far ahead of the others in handling, reliability,
rideability and style, which says a lot.

Nice paint job on this one though. One of those flip-flop lacquer things
that looks shitty salmony-orange in some lights and shitty pepperminty green
in others. Tasty. Seriously, what exactly *is* for sale here?

  7. You could duplicate the experience by taking one of your MZs, screwing
the pilot air screw right in so it never starts or runs right, pouring
Three-in-One oil all over the brake shoes, and disconnecting random
    parts of the wiring loom.

I can do that with most of my bikes without any real effort.

  10. I tested one of those, back in 1982.

It was a bit of a shock, because I switched it on, and there were no
lights, no nothing. No battery, even: everything was direct.

The flasher relay lived behind a side panel, suspended on two eleastic
bands. The harder the engine revved, the faster the indicators flashed.

The horn was wonderful: at tickover (not that the thing did) it sort of
crackled away to itself, but got more shrill as the revs rose. By
blipping the throttle, you could make it sound like a siren.

One by one the electrical components failed on the test. I think by the
end we only had dip beam.

It did about 45-50 flat out. Utterly horrible, hateful litle bike.

As much as I like ugly bikes, the Voskhod is truly the spawn of Satan.

A friend of mine had one from new. It only ever did one epic journey, and
that was from West Bromwich to Peterborough, for the BMF rally. The damn
thing exploded on the way back almost causing me to leave the road due to my
goggles filling up with tears. I'd hadn't laughed so much in a long time.

They also did a 125 version called the Minsk - that was the tadpole of
    Satan.

    In a word - DON'T - I've had Russian bikes, but I'm afraid the Voskhod is a
beast best left to die in peace.

  14. no, you don't, really...

it makes the supa5 look good...

and as for a 300 quid starting bid, I reckon the decimal point is at least 2
places too far over to the right.

Actually, the Supa5 is good. Especially compared to its contemporaries
on build quality, design, speed and handling.

Only real down side was it needed to be maintained - nothing difficult
    but it needed doing.

Whoever told him that didn't know what they were talking about.

The indicator problem is probably the mechanical flasher relay showing
its age. You can still get 2 pin 6v flashers quite cheaply.

Hum - if HMG gets round to paying me the pension money it owes me before
you do, I might well be interested in a B31.

While I was rebuilding something else I bought a ZB31 from Tom Kirby,
    Romford-ish, for a tenner.

It was known locally as The Torrey Canyon.

Running just as it should. The indicators still have to think about it
before actually flashing, so a bit of forward planning is called for. I
almost sold it to one of our club members, ( for all of £ 350 - so that
would have been a plus ) but he was told "don't buy a six volt one". In a
way, I'm glad. It means I can carry on riding it. This isn't a case of MZ
prejudice. Sooner or later one bike has to go. My insurance allows four
bikes per policy, I currently have six bikes up and running, along with the
two trikes. The project BSA B33 is coming along nicely now, so it will be a
case of "one in, one out". The one out will be culled from the list of
Drifter, Black, shiny B31, or the MZ. I rather hope it will be the B31 that
goes, I am growing fond of the MZ :)

Oh dear, I've just looked at the photographs taken today at the Stafford
show. Five of 'em are of MZs, and I only took eleven piccies.

I must admit, I'd rather have a 12 volt system.
    New battery and flasher unit.
If push comes to shove, I will re-wire the bike with some decent tri-rated
    stuff from work.

I was toying with the idea of digital flasher unit and LED flashers, but I
ain't that clever when it comes bunging stuff like that together.
Dare say I'll fix it one day ( famous last words ).

  20. All Supa Fives were 6v.

You can brighten the indicators by showing some Bacofoil in the housing,
    behind the bulb.
