    Let's review;

Daytona International Speedway-Ground zero for DMG, fat chance here..

Barber Motorsports Park-A possibility, but they're spending bucks on a
MX track, which IIRC is now owned by DMG..

    Infineon Raceway-Nascar

Miller Motorsports Course-Grand AM, Nascar and a MX hopeful..

Road America-Another possible, but IIRC they want a MX to go with their
    SuperMoto..

    Laguna Seca Raceway-Grand Am, Rolex..

    Road Atlanta-Grand Am?

Mid-Ohio-a possibility, but are seeking MX too..

Virginia International Raceway's promoter, Cameron Gray or the track
directly.- ISTR them wanting Grand Am..

    Fontana-Nascar, Nascar and well, Nascar..

This leaves me to wonder WTF the Soup Doods are smoking these days.
Like it, or not this deal looks pretty well done...

  2. It was pretty plain - there are being swamped with pissed off people
and are trying top redirect them elsewhere I doubt anyone believe
that those opinions will mean jack diddly.

    Yeah, check out Abrams column in next weeks CN, page 80;
    http://www.cyclenews.com/testride/latestissue.html

And if, as some have claimed recently, he writes for Big Red, it looks
like they're onboard the DMG express...

  4. I don't know about "on board" as much as "resigned".
He didn't appear to necessarily approve of anything,
and particularly had a jab at the MotoST thing, but
he pretty much said - whining won't change anything,
regardless of what you think of things the owner
makes the decisions, and he pretty much doesn't seem
to care about anyone else's opinion.

Actually more like Mr. Ed - "I have done everything that I know to
*appear* to be in agreement with you"...

I gotta few minutes yet, so let me make this clear. I believe if they
do as they say they'll address some of the things that have burdened
racing in this country for a long time. However, in doing so they *may*
be saddling it with other things that, at first glance, I don't really
care for. But I've been around the block a few times and understand
that's usually how these deals go and mostly you have to take the good
with the not so hot. The big question is, will it work out and bring
racing more mainstream and of that, only time will tell. What I loathe
and what I have always despised are the self-rightious, or
sanctimonious spreading their condescending crap and especially when
they start demonizing folks for no reason other than their own agenda,
and that's why I've had such a huge prob with you know who of late.
Anyway, I'm outta' here, catch you later...

  9. see, here we are different. I don't really care if racing is "mainstream"
if the racing that becomes "mainstream" isn't what I consider real or good
racing. I'll go back to sports. WWE is "mainstream" as far as large audiences
and make a bazillion dollars, but it is a total waste of time to me, I would
prefer to watch real wrestling, but real wrestling doesn't have a professional
side and never will because most people don't care. (At least now with UFC
gaining in popularity there is a actual sport/carrer option for many top
wrestlers). Same thing with that abortive Football deal a few years back,
there could be seen an outlet for non-NFL off season football, but to work
it would have to be football not crap. the NBC/WWE folks advertised it like
they were bringing back old school hard nose football, and people wanted
to go - the opening weekend had huge numbers - people wanted it, but the
product they put forth was crap - more gimmicks and "showmanship" ala the
WWE and strippers on the sidelines and stuff. so they tried to run football
like a WWE event and it sucked. the rting dropped fast even by the 2nd week
and then downhill from there - the only reason it lasted more than 2 games
was because the damn TV folks had 1/2 the stake and carried it long past
any real return. So they drove off real football fans with the crap product
that was meant to be liked, but didn't bring any of the WWE folks into football
to replace them - and it utterly failed. The same thing could be happening here.
real MC racing fans don;t follow the neutered f'd up series, but the changes
don;t really do anything to bring in enough new fans, and it is a flop. But
even if somehow it does bring in a bunch of new fans and is a commercial
success, I don't care and won't like it if it sucks. Just as even if the XFL
was a "success" and a bunch of nimrods loved it, I still wouldn't watch it.

I don't really have a problem with a middleweight superbike, I like FX
and think it would have good racing (already does) if all the factories
were in it. the the DSB thing seems to go to far. And as for close racing,
not overly expensive classes supersport is already dead on the mark, but
it was the first thing axed, why? because I think DMG know that the DSB
is so hamstrung by the intended rules that it would probably not be much
    different than SS.

see, this stuff you loath so much I see as much (or more) coming from DMG
and you as I do from "you know who".
I know who you mean, and whenever I disagree with you, you tend to lump me
in with him, but you'll note that while I agree with him on some points, others
    I don't. And I don't resort to name calling ;)

You're dead on, it could end up turning most of those who've been
around a while totally off and I think they probably realize that,
that's why I've said from the start to hold on to your hat, but please
don't think I'm *all in* on their deal. If someone asks me how I think
this thing will go I most likely wouldn't mind telling them, but just
because I may have some insight on what's gonna happen doesn't
necessarily mean I like it, or agree. In other words, I don't elevate
my opinion above anyone else's, but if you ask me don't get upset if
you hear something that you don't like..
    You may well be right..
I musta' missed them calling folks racist, hicks, or 'necks. You see
Bruce, I reside out in the trenches where the rubber meets the road and
most folks don't say things like that unless they're ready to back it
up with some ass and when someone starts talkin' smak like that I
either leave, or get real ready to rumble, because it's fairly certain
someone's fixin' to throw hands, bullets, or both. DMG is gonna do what
they believe they need to do to make racing bigger and they aren't
going to give 2 shits what you, I, or the man in the moon thinks. I
know how these guys play and trust me on this, they're not into
prisoners. They see it as their game and if you want to play you're
going to have to accept their complete authority, if not, c'ya. Is that
heavy handed? Oh hell yeah, but unless you've got a boatload of bucks
to lose that's just how it's gonna be..

I just lumped you guys together because you're the only 2(?)left
coasters here, believe me, I know there's a big difference. That said,
I just don't understand why a dood that in the past has displayed
serious understanding be such a complete jerk when it comes to this.
    Another one of life's mystery's I guess..

  11. again, not the level of MarkN name calling, but they (and you) seem to demonize
the OEMs plenty and you continue to blame the old AMA crew even tho' it's DMG
    who runnin it now.
No left coast here, grew up in PA, college at Texas A&M and last 15 yrs
    lived & worked in Dallas.

They may be calling the shots now, but what we see right now today is
the columniation of years of mismanagement, graft and God only knows
what else. Next year we can begin to sharpen our DMG darts, but the
current problem, or lack of real racing in SB lies directly at the feet
    of the old Proracing..
That's right, sorry, I get you and Will mixed up...(Hartweg/Hartung)

It's Soup's job to pump (web hits) and Dean (mix-master) Adams first
calling, but I can see where both CN and RRW might be hesitant to piss
off DMG, though for different reasons. CN's meat and potatoes, US M/C
racing, are now mostly all owned by them and RRW funds teams in both ST
and AMA, and besides that, getting on someone's shit list right now at
the beginning might have a chilling effect on any future endeavors, or
access. A lot too could be the reputation Nascar/Grand Am has about
anyone questioning their judgement, their propensity not to take
prisoners, not to mention long memory, either that, or they're just
waiting to see how this plays out, though I wouldn't give much weight
to the latter. Another thing I don't believe we'll see again without
some sort of official response is for "someone" to use a post race
media conference to vent. An off site lash-out interview would be bad
enough, but I'd imagine Mat's gotten the word that another one at the
track may have "consequences" that both him and Yosh might not be real
    happy about...
