I've not really given any great thought to investment, I just skim to
near skint every 3 months, and pay a chunk of house off...

At least I did til I got a one account.. now I just pretend I owe the
negative number, and don't let it become worse.

    Finance is dull.

  4. All of the above commentary is so similar to my own experience /
thoughts that I find it almost scary. It's like being in a parallel
    universe.

We are also in that fortunate position[1] - that's why I work with
kids rather than being an IT market analyst these days. And why Owen
can work at the workshop he likes rather than one that pays well.

Why not just get a normal job? I've got a contact out there I could
hook you up with if you want.

[0] In fact, on the web last week I saw nice, new apartments for sale
in the CBD for 60K sterling (annoyingly, can't find the page now). If
one believed that the Chinks are the next economic superpower, one
might be tempted to buy there as a strategic investment/possible base
    to go and work there.

Given your skills that would be a good move I reckon.

I'm looking at Shaghai - I'd like to be near the sea. I bunged my CV
off to one of the many listed opportunities on a whim (as you do) and
I've a first stage meeting in April for a project training Aviation
Industry staff. As my knowledge of the aviation industry is precisely
zilch I don't hold out a lot of hope but we'll see.
That would involve full time hours. Plus besides EFL I'm not sure what
my background in community regeneration and education is suitable for.
You can tell this is at the 'bright' idea stage can't you :)

Realistically son wants to finish his GCSEs here. I could go 'tough
we're moving' but they've had enough disruption. Though as they still
send their teenagers off to military boot camp the idea is quite
    tempting...
I'll bear that in mind ta. What sector is he/she in?
I think it's going to be Latin America (once they sought out the more
vocal elements and consolidate the working as a block) with China
    close behind.
It's a fascinating place. With that 'car crash' element of
fascination. If the Taiwan rumblings get any louder it's a moot point
    anyway.
