Well, this is what I went for in the end, since there seems to be ****
all to choose between them all and they were the cheapest.

First impression is they're very slow to turn. I'm used to having new
tyres on a bike make it feel like I'm riding on a knife edge. Hopefully
the weather'll be alright tomorrow (!) and I'll be able to scrub them in
properly and see how they are.

Riders get used to the way certain manufacturers make their tyres
perform and you're doomed because you've developed a riding style that
    suits Dunlops.

I don't know why you didn't have Dunlop Qualifier RRs on your list
because I've found that they grip really well and they feel like every
other Dunlop RR tyre did when it comes to cornering.

You'll get used to the Pirellis but you'll still wonder if it could
    have been better..

If you're going to try a post like that you could at least throw in a
reference to Norway and do the job properly.

The Pirellis are popular amongst road (as opposed to short circuit)
racers because they're renowned for being stable - i.e. don't cause
the bike to slap about on the bumps. This may also cause a little
slowness on turn in. Just eat your spinach and work on your forearm
    strength :)

It's weird. They turn in well enough at first, but at some point there's
a sense of resistance to leaning further. Kind of like when the
profile's squared off, but without that sudden flop as you tip over the
    edge.

They've only got to last me through the OSM and next trip to France - I
suspect after that they'll be fucked and if I haven't gelled with them
by then I'll just replace them with something else.

This is all a bit new for me - correctly noticing tyre characteristics.
    I'm not usually that good!

Hmmm. Sounds odd. I've used them a fair bit, and it doesn't sound at
all familiar to me. You have got the pressures right, yes? Yours
wouldn't be the first bike to leave a tyre fitters with the pressures
    completely wrong.
    heh.

Christ knows. I haven't checked a tyre pressure in donkeys years. Don't
think I even have a pressure gauge anymore.

Hang on, this gives me an excuse to visit Halfords...

And just to hijack the thread

the front tyre on my Fireblade is showing a crack in the tread and I
was thinking of replacing the pair

Knowing buggerall about tyres can someone suggest a set to get for
normal road use and who to get them from ?

Do I remember correctly that Lloyd Coopers in Watford will fit them
cheaply if you provide the tyres?

I wonder why my experience of Pilrelli's is the exact opposite?
