The days of rental carnage, fast bikes, loose women, and beer
then racing in the morning are long gone. So long gone the
teams are busting kids for acting like racers.

    I'm feeling older every day.

The days of rental carnage, fast bikes, loose women, and beer
Coulda been worse - at least he didn't get caught smoking weed out of
a smooshed beer can like (my all time favorite rider) did.

  3. They can just buy some carbon credits, say "I'm sorry", blame Suzuki
and go on like nothing happened.

Besides, it was just a rental car and we know how racers and rentals
just don't seem to mix and for the beer? Gimmee a f'ing break, at least
it wasn't heroin, crack, or speed with a few hookrz...

Big deal. They sent James Bond to the hospital because he cut his finger.
You forgot rehab at a spa somewhere. One where tiny Asian girls walk on
your back. Perhaps they can do their community service by teaching them
    English.

    From 13 Jun Racerhead:

A lot has been made of the heat in Texas, and the heat came down on a
couple of Yamaha’s star racers before the race, too. Josh Hill and
Jason Lawrence got their post-race celebration started a little bit
early at Freestone, and Yamaha sent out a press release about it
yesterday. Apparently, as Ping will explain in a minute, on Friday
night, Lawrence was out jacking around with some buddies and rolled
his mechanic’s rental car. Then, the big trouble was that Saturday
night, both Lawrence and Hill were reportedly together, drunk, in and
around the pits, when Hill got a ticket for underage drinking. After
all, he’s not even 20 yet.

Now, here’s the thing: I’m no moralist, and personally, I think the
law that says you have to be 21 to drink, yet you can vote and die for
your country at 18, is stupid.
After Yamaha’s vague apology in a PR earlier this week, everyone wants
to know what happened at freestone. Jason Lawrence rolled his
mechanic’s rental car in the pits at Texas. You know what? You show me
a motocross racer that says he hasn’t done some heavy damage to a
rental car in his day and I’ll show you a liar. E-brakes are fun. It
happens, and I don’t judge him for that. But on Saturday night, less
than 12 hours before the start of the national, Jason was partying it
up at his motor home and was allegedly issued a citation for
contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Who was the underage pal
whooping it up with J-Law the night before the race? His partner in
crime (literally) for the entire season, Josh Hill. Josh, who was
written a minor in possession citation, will have to go back to Texas
later this year to clear his situation up. Josh, if you can read this…
MOVE. Sell that house next to Jason and find something on the other
side of town. That’s just my advice. It’s your career.

All I was saying is that in the grand scheme of things the young man's
transgression is not only NOT that big a deal and has been done many
times before, that's all. Now, if it actually happened as I've heard,
at the track, then that's a whole 'nother story and needs to be dealt
with swiftly and firmly, but away from the event? Then it's not a big
deal, except for maybe his folks, sponsor and the rental car outfit.
Motorcycle racer's these days, and MX in particular offer a fairly good
cross section of society and with that comes all sorts of
personalities, so it should surprise no one when things like this
occur, but like I said, (if it happened) at the event, then yes, *ALL*
those involved need to come to Jesus..
Bottom line? You don't sh*t where you eat, or for that matter, at the track...

  9. He'll disagree if it's commonly accepted knowledge.
It's best just to ignore him as he won't go away.

I agree, at least to some extent, but what happens these day's is a
little different than it use to be, that is, Youtube and the Web never
seem to forget and I'd hate to see one screw-up ruin a budding career
before it actually gets going good, or, for that matter, haunt him when
it's over, after all (IIRC) he's still just a 19 YO kid. Heh, I dunno
'bout you, but it's prolly a damn good thing they weren't around when I
    was that age..

Btw, have you started any rehab yet? I used those rubber stretchy
ribbon-like things tied to a bed post to exercise my good leg when I
was in the "chair," they worked out pretty good too, just be careful
    and don't over-do it..
I was tellin' a friend about your deal the other day and something my
Mom told me at the hospital right after my "unfortunate experience"
came to mind, she said, "this too shall pass" and at the time I thought
she had gone total batshit crazy, but you know what? She was right...

    X-post off..

Any Dr. that has surgeon after his name I tend to shy/run away from
whenever possible, any surgery brings the risk of infection and right
now, if you're otherwise healthy, that's prolly your biggest concern,
especially so now that you're a "cyborg". Heh, wheelchairs suk ass,
huh? I'm still painting over those damn skid marks from turning around,
or trying to squeeze in rooms where the doors weren't wide enough...

I agree. The 1st I heard about this was here:
    http://www.cyclenews.com/ShowStory.asp?HeadlineID=12439 &
    http://www.cyclenews.com/ShowStory.asp?HeadlineID=12442

A quote from the latter: "The nature of Lawrence's and Hill's offenses
have been reported elsewhere in the media."

I looked for an hour and couldn't find anything until the above
referenced racerhead. I was at the race Sun and when I 1st read it on
cyclenews I thought it was a fight between the 2 due to a racing
incident. But I never saw it. And thought they were buds

My view is that getting wasted and costing your employer money because
of it is a far cry from being a beacon of rugged individualism.
